Default Motorola 2.5 bar map sensor

Okay i see a great deal of people have been purchasing these:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1359911

The question is how do people like these on thier car over the 3 bar. Is it easier idle with ubderdata/crome/hondata/neptune/etc. Please leave some feedback. Both horror stories and successful stories.

I don't know a great deal about the motorola, but I do know its better than the GM 3bar. The 3bar has obvious problems reading high vacuum (up to 4 in/hg off while idling), and some tuner said that it has problems reading boost over ~22psi. Its more of a consistent problem, meaning its always off roughly same amount.

So far I haven't heard of any complaints of people needing to retune thier idle for the 2.5bar. I'm going with it since I'm only planning on 15-18psi, and it's cheap.

ive used it no probs. I actually just used a my previous tuned 1.7bar crome map, converted it to 2.5 bar... i ended up having to add a touch more fuel through out the map but for the most part it was tuned... and it idles just like before.

I've done ~8 cars with 2.5 bar MAP sensors.
They run great.
They idle great.
The sensor is exceedingly linear, unlike the GM3bar
It is my second favorite sensor, second only to the AEM/Calinco/whoeverthefuckmakesit 3.5 bar

i'm running a motorola 2.5 bar. my car idles amazingly nice. it hasnt hickuped or gotten stupid at all in 1000 miles. you NEED to make sure the wiring is done right...and separated. they are tiny little things, and the wires are CLOSE together. my buddy dave (splitime) has had his in for many thousands of miles..and he tuned mine also. he loves them. we both had issues with our wires first though (not wrapped up well, etc, and wires touching.) that makes the car run, well, badly.

sensors are fine still though. my car hasnt idled this well since it was stock. haha

Crome and Neptune both work flawlessly.
If you take your time and tune it right, they work flawlessly with TurboEdit.

Just installed one last week actually. Works fine.

Just opened crome > boost tools> 2.5

Of course it wasn't tuned yet so I had to take some fuel out to get it to idle ~14.7AFR but it idled fine. No problems.

The only issues with the install is T'eeing off a vaccum line. Just left teh stock sensor in place and unplugged it.

one thing i've been wondering about is the type of sensor.

the motorolla 2.5bar map I got was a RELATIVE type while the stock and gm map's are ABSOLUTE.

Is this right or did I get the wrong sensor? Will the Baro sensor in an obd1 p06/p28 running p30 (crome) base code compensate for that or will it think i'm running at 1 bar of pressure ambient when in reality its like 900mbar local pressure.

blunder this is really a question for you; i think i asked you this on pgmfi.org but i didnt get a reply; i may not have asked; its been a while. Now that i have my ostrich and a wideband i'm going to install this guy in the near future and would like to know if it'll plug right in or if i will need to tweak my maps for elevation; and keep my tuning stuffs with me when i travel to lower/higher elevation climates

MPX4250A = the sensor to use. I have no clue what sensor you have if that's not the one.

Not crome pro. you have to pay for that and well....that takes money.

Crome is free. I prefer it over Uber.

http://www.pgmfi.org

they have forums too, kind of buried. make sure you read everything and search before posting. I think I have posted all of 1 time and it wasn't a question. They have a good library of info.

is the sensor you speak of relative or absolute?

my sensor has the part number MPX4250AP

*goes and researches part numbers*

/edit: ok it looks like the mpx4250a is the same sensor but minus the port (p for port; get it har har not funny)... and the ap is the sensor with the pressure port. i guess the hole in the side of the sensor isn't an autmospheric pressure port; if it was it would make the sensor relative and not absolute...

who knows i'll wire it up in the next day or so and see how it goes

go to pgmfi.org and see what the difference is.

i will say the $$ i forked over for crome pro was definately worth it.

ps the motorola 2.5 bar map sensor works flawlessly with crome(and crome pro for that matter) idles great on the first try.

Are you serious? Try the first link at the top.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I was assuming that the usage of shrink tubing over wire connections was practiced by everyone. I don't usually like to seem mean to new people trying to learn, but try searching this site or with google first - it helps imensely.

I'm addicted to electrical tape..... everywhere

I'm running a 2.5 on my car and redzcstandards hatch. Takes a little tweaking to get to run at first, but after that its OEM.

I've got plenty of 880-1000cc injector cars idling sweet on GM 3 bar, boostatic. What you have to do is tune your idle, which is hard to do without a wideband, some sort of datalogging function, and spending a little time figuring out how the system works.

Motorola 2.5 bar are sweet sensors, too, but I wouldn't go trading a GM 3 bar I already own in on one. If you are looking to buy a MAP sensor, and don't need to go past 20 psi, then the Motorola 2.5 wins hands down between quality and price.
