Not possible to answer. Depends on local laws.

As far as I know, only the Greddy kits are CARB approved (maybe more now, but was true last year). CARB = California Air Resources Board. So, these should pass smog tests just about anywhere. But the visual inspection is another thing altogether.

Q: Most turbos legal?
A: No

As mentioned above, the only one I know of thats CARB approved is/are those by Greddy.
HKS is once again looking into marketing kits for the RSX, that will most likely also be carb approved.

Drag and F-Max (sp?) and most others are not approved, especially since they externally vent their wastegate (exhaust) gasses.

And lastly, why was this in the competition forum?
Were you inquiring about the legality of turbos in a race car or series such as NASA or SCCA? HTH

take off the extrenal wastegate and you'll be fine....its more tuning than anything...my firend had a greddy with like stage 4 uprgrades.....msd, msd btm, built everything, etc......and he had 3 tries.....failed the first 2 then passed with a lil tuning with the cam gears, and a lil twist of the distributor.....wala passed....if only a turbine didnt whistle, u could tune it so fine that the inspector couldnt even tell if u had a turbo setup or not......
