I wanna know cause I keep getting so many different answers, and I know I will keep getting different answers. But I need to know if I do all the internals(bullet proofing the engine pistons, rods, etc, etc.) Upgrade the fuel system what's the max horsepower I can see out of a D16Y8(SOHC VTEC). My goal is to make 300hp to the wheels. Please someone tell me if this is possible. I keep hearing from friends swap the engine get a B16a2 SiRII some say turbocharge this engine, I'm stuck if I can see 300hp I'll turbocharge this engine if not then I'll go with the B16(keep in mind I don't want any Acura Integra engine) I have a Civic and if I swap I'm going to stay Civic so although I know of the B18C1 and C5 I'm not interested, neither am I interested in either of the H22's or the B20 or the Civic Type R(just too damn expensive) for that matter.

So do you actually think you can get that sohc up to 300hp and keep it costing under any of the motor swaps you mentioned here??

i think it is possible, but only under good tuning!!! the people at fmax got a stock bottom end sohc up to 225hp so why not 300!! 300 is my goal with out a sleved block.

save ur money and swap in a b18b. they can be had for really cheap. acura honda same ****. you will actually save money swapping in a b18b and turboing it opposed to doing the same with the d16.

a sleeved turbo B18B would the best option. or for 300hsp a non-sleeved block would do it.

I'm building a 350+whp D16 which will cost me less or very close to a complete B18C5 swap.

$4k for the complete motor and head + tuning
$1k for the Hondata 2B
$1k in turbo upgrades from what I already have

So *roughly* $6k, which is about what a B18C5 swap goes for +/- $500

BTW a B18B/B20/B18C1 will come up ALOT cheaper than this!

it is costing me less to build my d16 then do an engine swap and i can still run my ac and ps really easy

If money isnt a factor then 300whp is very possible on the d16. Get yourself a built block with a ported head and a kick *** fuel system, and a standalone and your set, with other misc. items such as a good ignition system. However you could get more then 300 whp from a dohc. If you decided to go Dohc it would be a better starting ground. If you do as I stated above on a dohc you could easily get over 400whp.
