i finally got the turbo running and boosted, the one advise i want to tell newbies like me is...

Do NOT use a peice of rag over the compressor inlet as a filter it will not boost...

took me a whole day to figure this out but now shes boosting at 4 psi thanks to all honda tech members and zip the smc is great! easy *** install well kinda....

Man, I love looking at ghetto setups...
You're lucky you didn't suck that rag in and toss the compressor wheel....

If he's boosting 4 psi then it's probably 82-84 Saab.

The 85-8? had a 5.5 psi wastegate, which is what I have, but I only "see" 4 psi due to the elevation I am at, 2600+ ft.

FWIW, the wastegates get swapped around a bit over the years. I wouldn't rule out him having sourced the turbo and pipes from an 85+ car as they look exactly like what I'm running... I use the big "turbo intercooler" one to strap my cone filter to. :D

hehe thanks for the replies well the turbo is a from a ford t3 some wierd kind and the intercooler piping where from a lot of different cars when i was at the junk yard. some from volvos and some from saabs and mercedes diesel.

the only problem now is that the oil line is about to go. i can see it expand when i rev the throttle body. wheres the cheapest place to buy braided hoses?

what kind of intercooler is that? I like it, it's perfect where it's at if you make a air scoop underneath where the airbox use to be. I want that intercooler!

Looks good ... but as others have mentioned, I'd look into getting air to that intercooler. It looks like what you have there would be more commonly refered to as an "interheater." For obvious reasons this isn't desireable.

the intercooler's from a saab 900, they're always on ebay and you might also get the pipe that says "turbo intercooler" with it.

the intercooler does get some cold air; i have a vent hose that comes from bumper fog light opening through the resonator and into the intercooler

the overall speed is awsome being my first time driving a boosted car, let alone ride in one, but theres a lot of lag its an exhaust a/r of .48 so the spool should come earlier than its at now, but it starts to spool at 3500k but thats cuz my ghetto downpipe is.... ghetto!
it goes from 2.25 to 2.5 90 deg turn then back to 2.25 and then to a stock cat and exhaust pipe then through a 2.5 pipe for the muffer after the A pipe
