I'm just riding around with my 87.25 mm 9.1:1 Mahles today, and I'm thinking to myself: Should I test these pistons on a JRSC with the smallest pulley I can find. Unfortunately the JRSC won't clear the firewall in my Civic, so I don't think I can. I just can't afford a $3000 turbo setup right now and thought it would be interesting to see what numbers I would make with a high boost JRSC.

none... at 8psi its already out of efficency and just heats the expletive out of the air.. the jrsc for the h22 is way to small for a 2.2liter. at 8psi i have seen over 200deg intake temps, 10psi flatlines the sensor

Well thanks for the advice. I'm just gonna hafta sit on my N/A H22 for a while. But, when I do go to boost, I'll be much happier knowing I'm utilizing the pistons to their full potential.

anyone have any updates on these pistons? i'm doing a jdm h22a swap soon and want to boost with these pistons and some eagle rods as long as nobody is having probs. i read everything in the thread and people have been boosting fine with the gold series pistons, some aftermarket rods, and the frm sleeves ... just wanted to make sure that still holds true

I would like to know as well.. I already have my H22 in my Civic and it's boosted at 6 psi all stock internals put down 290 whp 235 wtq, VAFC hack. I would like to get these pistons and up the boost to 10-12 psi for 350 whp

I recommend changing the rods also. Eagle H beams and the mahles

should be able to pull off 12psi easily with that. good luck also.

What setup are you guys thinking about running?

I went ahead and purchased a 92 civic hatch for another h22 motor. I'm going to use that one for my turbo build and my prelude for my n/a build. Might switch it around though.

Anyway, I was thinking about this setup:

Log Manifold
Tial 38mm wastegate
Garrett t3/t4e 60 trim .63a/r
Mahle Goldseries 87.25mm pistons
Eagle H beam rods
Walboro Fuel pump
AEM rail and regulator
Precision 750cc injectors
ARP headstuds
Hondata s300

Maybe pushing 12psi - going for 300+whp on that setup. Maybe more in the future. Its just a project though.

Thinking about doing a crazy allmotor setup also.

It's weird seeing Tial and RC on the same setup list as SSAC, (any) FMU and a VAFC..

i'm running a jdm h22a w/:

stock block and head
precision sc44.63 hot/.60 cold stg 5 wheels (9psi)
pecision 780cc injectors
aeromotive fpr
walboro 255hp
custom homemade mani and all piping
tial 38mm
greddy rs bov
jrc 8" intercooler
uberdata tuned by me!

not sure how much the thing is putting down, havent dyno'd yet, but the bitch rails..tuned on uberdata by myself on the street. afr's 10.7-12 accross, i know a lil rich in places, but i'm not done tuning the fuel yet, and i would rather it being a little rich since i'm using stock pistons and block...i'll probably mess with it a lil more today and smooth the afr's out a little more.

????????? You're not running the Mahle pistons?.........

You should try them, with some crower or eagle rods - so you can get that psi up

I'm either going stock or acl.........i guess both would work. There ewas a comparison somewhere on here before - but i don't know where it is. i'm sure stock will be fine.

i just spent the last 2 hours reading this thread, and with the hollidays here and my b-day in three weeks. i think i just decided that im gonna run the mahle pistons with the eagle rods!!!

question being: im not sure enough with myself to remove my head and try to install pistons rods, so are there any shops around philly that are known for doing very good piston, rod, installs? and usually how much does and install like that go for? ok thanks

oh and just curious, how do u pronounce mahle... is it just male?

I didn't know you could install the pistons from the top.....hmm, i guess that would make it easier. Can anyone confirm?

Also, you might want to check out your cylinder condition before you buy the pistons. You might have to get it bored .25 if they're scarred. I'm going with the 87.25 mahles

I've never tried it, but it's possible to leave the engine in the car. The main problem is trying to work under the car - I don't know if I'd try it unless I had a lift.

oh yeah - that makes sense. i get it now - i think i'll try that, but it would involve lifting the car up and down - very repetitive.

I didn't mean putting them in from the top - i just meant putting them in with the engine still in the chasis. Sorry, i worded wrong.

dam this is gonna be a total retard statment then, but i didnt know u had to take the motor out of the car in order to change the pistons... dam, so the motor has to come out and everything.... thats gonna be expensive
