Mitsu GST turbo on a B16???
I have a friend who just did a turbo upgrade on his 97 Eclipse GST and says that he will sell my the factory turbo real cheap. I just have to find out if it works on a B16A. He also told me that if it doesn't, to just buy the GReddy turbo kit for the 99-00 Civic Si, b/c it doesnt matter if its for an OBDII car. He says I can just run i using a GReddy E-manage or an HKS F-Con piggyback. Is true that I can do that? What size of turbo do these Eclipses use? What type of manifold can I use. I was looking at the HKS turbo manifold for B-series engines, can I use this? Or should I just wait and save up for a DRAG GEN3 turbo kit?

The GST uses a Garrett T25, but it has a different inlet flange than the standard T25 and will require a custom manifold to be built to mount it. The B16 can easily handle it at the stock 5-7 PSI level, with only a FMU to add more fuel.

Is it true that the T25 gives out at high rpm? I read somewhere else here that the T25 turbo dies out at high rpm and that it loses boost. I've never seen this happen on my friend's Eclipse, could it act different in my car?

the T25 should be a good size for your B16 if your not demanding massive high end power. you should probably look into getting a custom manifold since the HKS one won't fit the garret T25. i think there is a member that goes by tinker319 or something similar that makes custom manifolds. just make sure you do NOT get a manifold from the Drop Shop. i'm still waiting for my manifold and downpipe from jon at the Drop Shop since october 2002.

well, I'm not after massive amounts of hp, but i wouldn't want the turbo to die out at top-end. How much hp can I gt out of this turbo and how much boost can I run? I'm doing a full rebuild of my bottom-end and using 9.2:1 JE pistons.

T25 will give you good midrange and make reving that motor up not fun at all. ruins the only thing b16s do well- rev.
you need a turbo with a much less restrictive turbine. A 60 trim t3 with a bigger turbine housing would be the smallest I would put on that car. you can get them cheap too. I have experiance with T25s on d16s and they are too small for those motors that only rev to 7200 and make 30 less hp.
Also if you are willing to learn about boosting hondas then you should make your own kit and start off ahead. Hondas are easy to boost because everyone has done what you are trying to do a million times before. Just make sure you do your research and you can go fast with little hassle.

And lets say I decide on making my own kit, how easy is it to make intercooler piping or are there companies out there that sell intercooler piping?
