Default Merkur XR4Ti

Anything on this car worth using on a Honda home grown turbo setup, or is the car best preserved as is and built itself? TIA.

XR4ti should have a T3-60 or super 60 as its original turbo I believe... 5-speed models have an 0.63 exhaust housing and autos have the 0.48 which I think is too restrictive for a high-revving honda install. If you can find one off a manual tranny it's probably a good starting point.

hey what's the difference between a T3 60-trim/.60a/r w/ .48 turbine housing (turbo on my car) and a T3 SUPER 60. I'm confused. I've been told mine IS the Super 60, but then I saw somewhere else it's different.

I believe the super 60 has a larger diameter compressor wheel - same inlet, different outlet diameter. So theoretically it should flow/boost more at the same speed or reach the same level of flow/boost at a lower speed as compared to the T3-60.

I'm running one of these on my car right now. Same turbos came on the Ford Thunderbird turbocoupes. I have the larger .63 a/r exhaust version. For a custom job, these are some of the best stock turbos you can find.
Starts making usable boost at around 3k on my B16a.
IMO, its a great turbo for the street.

i believe they are the super 60 trim, or atleast as close to it as youll get for OEM. only bad thing about them is all the flanges and end are diff than regular garrett turbos.

No, the 60 trim ones are standard Garrett T3.
THe triangle flange ones are 50 trim i believe, but i'm not sure.
