Default Melting SPAL fans

My 2 new spal fans are in. they are thin and give me more space but they are plastic and the one on the drivers side is close enough to the turbine housing that it is starting to melt!!! Is there a way to shield this effectively?

im going to asume that your talking about the exhaust compressor- they sell a thermo wrap that wraps around the compressor, it might help keep the heat in. but im not sure of pros and cons of this product. I never used it myself but maybe someone on the board has.

yes the turbo itself. the compressor side doesn't get hot enough to melt anything. Its the fan near the turbine side. I can't see how you can wrap the turbo though.

Does anyone else have problems with these plastic fans melting near the turbos?

Yeah, I have one side of the fans right up on the exhaust housing. It has melted the small plastic mounting spacers on the heat sheild (fan). It has not affected the fan perfomance.

Do you have room to mount the fans on the other side of the radiator?

possibly.
they are puller fans. I suppose I can reverse them.
seems they are working ok still. I am going to get some heatshield wrap and hopefully that will cool things down a bit!

Watch out for that wrap. Do some research on it before shrouding your turbo housing in it. You don't want any unwanted cracks in the turbo housing.

what do you mean? Is there one wrap that is better than another? I thought it was a good thing to wrap them up?
