Max RPM for stock D16 head
For some reason my 98 civic's transmisison (EX model) has such a wide gap between 2nd and 3rd gear. So much so that unless I rap it past redline to just a tad over 7k rpms it'll drop out of boost on 2nd to 3rd shift which is kinda annoying.
However I don't hardly ever do that as I don't know what a stock D16Y8 head & valve train will handle in terms or RPMs before something lets go?
How far do you guys push the RPMs on stock D16 head/valve train combos before upgrading valve springs and so forth?
Thanks

Re: Max RPM for stock D16 head
Yes different gear ratio would be ideal. I already purchased a built transmission from syncrotech (I think that's their name) with carbon fiber syncros, m factory locker etc. Not looking to re-do the transmission again.
I'm just wondering on the odd occasion when I really wanna get moving in 2nd how far can I safely rev the motor?
