map limiter Q's
 

I just got my map limiter from filetofit and wondering if anyone can help me out as to which wires are going to be what on this thing...
i assume power, ground, and input and output to ecu?
but can someone tell me which wire color is going to be the output and input to the map sensor?
also be helpful to let me know which wire i need to tap into for the map sensor so i dont have to bs with finding it, thanks

There are three wires going to your MAP sensor, one is +5 volts, one is ground, and one is signal. You'll need to know which is which by using a voltmeter or a wiring diagram from a shop manual. With the key on , engine off, the signal wire will read about 2.9 volts.

Cut the signal wire, this is the only wire you will cut completely. Connect the part of the cut wire that goes to the MAP sensor to the orange wire. Connect the part of the cut wire that goes to the ECU to the yellow wire.


PS On a 2nd gen teg the signal wire is white, the ground is green and white, and +5 volts is yelllow and red.

Splice the red wire into the +5 volt wire. And splice the black wire into the ground wire. By splice I mean attach to (or tap into) but do not entirely cut the +5 volt and ground wires in the car's harness.

That's it, if you have to change the settings use a voltmeter on the yellow wire and monitor the voltage change with the key on, engine off as you slowly turn the screw heads on the pot further from where the wires come off the board. With the key on, engine off, the voltage on the yellow wire should be about 1.8 volts. Adjusting it to a higher voltage will make it richer, a lower voltage leaner at WOT. You can change the settings with the engine idling to smooth out idle. Use the pot closest to the wires to adjust idle. Do not make extreme changes, a tenth of a volt, like going from 1.8 to 1.7 volts with the key on, engine off, will make a fairly significant change in fueling.

Did you use a wire woun pot? If so where did you source them, and what kind of resolution do they have? Thanks.
