Mandrel piping DIY ? and shop talk is it true?

MANDREL INTERCOOLER PIPING, DIY?
I found a place that will sell me mandrel piping bends for about 10-20 bux a bend.
Is it better to just order the bends and try to get a muffler shop to weld it together for me? or should i just go with a regular crush bend IC piping for my car?
i told this shop i wanted mandrel piping and i want to run about 8 psi of boost.
well
This shop is saying it wont make a huge difference, since on the cold side, the turbine is just making pressure, and when the throttle body opens it recieves 6-8 PSI of pressure on the manifold, but the ammount of air moving into the engine is not high enough for me to need mandrel bends from the turbo all the way to the intake manifold. but that mandrel bends makes more of a difference on the exhaust side. they say only the air moving out of the engine needs mandrel bends because of expanding gas and combustion makes alot more air to be moving on its way out opposed to on its way in the engine.
is this true?

Get the mandrel bent stuff. And get those bends if you can get your hands on something to use as a template.

I used a crush bend or two when i ran out of mandrels and I still make boost

Reading all these posts like this I wonder, do alot of you guys not care what it looks like? Just curious. That's always been important to me, but it seems is not to important to alot of other people?

I could give two ***** what other people think about my car. If they don't like the way something looks, then they can pay to fix it.

That's about what i thought. I don't see it that way. If it was all about being fast then we'd all have old novas with big blocks in them and be fast and cheap. I like for my cars to look clean and professional. I guess there's always two ways to do it.

Go look under the hood of most race cars. Everything is there for function, not form. Its not that I prefer ratty looking home made ****.. but I put function over form. You can have a very clean, and functional car, you just have to know what to keep, and whats worthless weight adding crap.

I don't want to argue about it, but go look under the hood of any race car that is in the top of it's class and you'll see a clean setup. When time and thought is put into making it look good, it reflects in how well everything works too.

you are all tards... do whatever makes you happy, if spending the extra $100 or whatever it is to make it look cleaner makes you happy, then do that...if you are satisfied with crushed bends go fo it. i DOUBT you'll notice a big difference on 6-8psi.

No,, but on a street driven car,, you won't notice the difference between the two. If the person bending the tubing is good,, you will be hard pressed to tell if its crush, or mandrel bent tubing with the exception of very sharp bends.

Basically it comes down to craftsmanship and having pride in what you build. I definately agree with Tony1. If youre gonna do something then do it right, cuz its a relfection of yourself.

Crush bent is fine for nothing.
I would rather have the stock mandrel bent pea shooter exhaust then a 2.5 crush bent.

Well, most people only tend to see my taillights, and the rest of the back of my car, so I try to keep that part as nice looking as possible. **** the rest of it... it's not like they'll ever get a glimpse of the front, anyways! <--yes, crush bent under the hood-- but it's racers unwritten rules, don't ask, don't tell!
