Ok I made my own downpipe with is directly connected from the turbo to where the cat used to be, there is a standard metal/fabric style gasket connecting the flanges. the only flex in the system is from the rubber hangers, i have been riding around for 4 days now and have no problems, my friend tells me that I could crack my manifold becuase i dont have the donut gasket and spring bolts, but I have solid motor mounts so my engine doesnt move hardly at all in the engine bay, there is no sound of the exhaust hitting against anything either.

so am i ok, or should I remove the flange and weld in a donut gasket flange with spring bolts

without any give somewhere in the exhaust, the HEAD bolts will take the brunt of the motor travel, no matter how stiff the ounts are, get some spring bolts or some type of flex pipe in there

you actually mean the head bolts, not the exhaust manifold head bolts? damn I need to fix this quick then

I dont think that he means the actual head bolts. I think he means the manifold bolts.

It can also break your turbo manifold and blow out gaskets. Your motor rocks back and forth and there has to be somthing that gives in you EX system. The rubber hangers are not enough, Try using a braided flex section there insted of the spring bolts.

Once you launch it, the damage will start taking place.

I made a ball and socket that uses a standard 3" graphite donut gasket, I know it's not pretty but it has worked quite well for the past 3 years. I have drag raced with full exhaust and have had no issues. I also designed it so I could unbolt the flex assembly without having to remove any other exhaust component.

you need a flexpipe.

The stock spring bolts are to be used with those donut gasket set ups.

It is a good idea to brace your downpipe to the engine before the flexpipe as well.

If you have no flex, you will loose downpipe/manifold bolts and even possibly crack something in the set up. usually turbo manifold goes first.

well i think the flex pipe will work best, it will give me overall flexability in the system and they are pretty cheap
