Default Mac valve only giving 3lbs on 95% duty cycle...???

So set up a car that has a full race topmount, T4, dual 44mm gates, Garrett GT4088R with a .95A/R housing. 3" downpipe and full exhaust. Management is Neptune. Standard MAC valve from xenocron. Gates have 10lb springs. So basically at 95% duty cycle, its only adding 3lbs of boost. Going to be doing a boost leak test. But it comes in quick and hold a solid 10.3-10.5lbs on 0% and at about 75% it will hold 11.5-11.8lbs and on 95% is 12.8-13.0lbs. Any input? Kinda baffled to i do a boost leak i guess lol.

try putting it at 10 % duty, does that increase boost ? FYI put boost cut on

somethings obviously wrong.

Sure you have it hooked it correctly? fire rings installed?

Yes, fire rings are installed.

If i put it at 10% it doesnt build any more than 10lbs. Meaning that its not inverted. Its working like it should, but in the sense that for the amount of duty cycle going up, not much boost going up. And also yes, its plumbed correctly. Im believing it to be a boost leak. But the guy needed his car back and didnt have time to check it. Will be getting back into it this weekend but trying to get a head start on things to check or look at first.

I dont know if this helps but I had boost issues with my mac solenoid when I had speedfactory tune my car (neptune as well) and I found a bunch of built up crap inside the solenoid even though it wasnt that old. was about to replace it but I cleaned it out with carb cleaner and took the little filter fitting off and it worked great after that.

Try setting it to 50% duty, and all of the enable parameters to as low as possible, idle the car and see if you can here it pulse.

At 90% it will be static, at 10% it will be static...so you wont hear the pulse.

You can test the ECU output is working by using a scope or anything that can measure injector duty cycle...and if the solenoid "clicks" when you give 12 volts (even static on the bench).

I have never see a bad one out of the box, I have seen a few melt over time...but those are easy to diag.

You can just do KOEO and hear it clicking like Chris said.

Neptune has a feature to allow you to just activate the solenoid with the key on. I can audibly hear it changing as i go from 20% to 95%. it working and wired right.

Its plumbed correctly. Checked it 3 times and ive set up several cars. I just "T'd" into the lines for dual gates.

Set up just like this, just with a T going to the gates

It wouldn't hurt to try inverting the solenoid... I mean you've tried everything else

no difference?

check the material you used for pressure lines to make sure they aren't damaged/punctured or a fitting has worked it's way loose

Do a sanity check on the solenoid.
With the solenoid off/unplugged you should be able to blow through ports 1 & 3.
Now with the solenoid fully energized (connect to battery) you should be able to blow through ports 1 & 2.

You sure the ecu is chipped correctly? When I did mine myself, I had the transistor too high and it was shorting on the case cover.

He said he could audibly hear the solenoid change pitch when he adjusted static pwm duty. That's the best way to test the electrical components.

*That reminds me, have you datalogged to verify the duty is actually enabled when you are attempting to boost?

Yes...on the live feed, i can see that Neptune is going to 40% when i set it at 40%. The owner of the car has looked at it a little bit and said he found some issues with his charge pipes that he is sure was causing some leaks.

I may of missed it, but did you see what happens if you run off the spring? That will narrow down half of it right there...

^This, can't believe I didn't think of that.

Running off the spring will show an issues/leaks, which could be why you can't get any control with the solenoid
