ls vtec turbo takes 3.5 oil qts or smoke
My ls vtec was running fine for two years. Now i put a 6265 with the same
lines and restrictor .060" no kinked return line and now at idle smoke. i remove
1/2 quart and the problem it's fixed.
Any of yuo run that problem before.
it's 3.5 oil quart dangerus for a D.D. with 404 whp living in a 90* weather.

Where do you have the oil drain fitting on the oil pan?? Sound like you may have it to low and the oil from the turbo cant drain back properly, that may be why when you took some oil out it stopped smoking.

Check the down pipe and see if there is oil in it and in the exhaust housing. The turbo could be leaking oil. Also make sure when you clocked the turbo that you properly tightened the housing again, loose housings will leak oil. Is the turbo a Precision 6265 or a knock off?

Re: ls vtec turbo takes 3.5 oil qts or smoke
i read the HT old posts with oil drain and found if you have a 45* on the oil
pan it can't face completly upward so i turned mine a little to left like 30* .
This is correct or not?
The pan fitting it's half inch from the pan bolt edge
i'm need to buy the 4qts and see if it works.

I'm having the same problem with my ls vtec and I have a moroso oil pan running new precision entry level j.b. turbo. I have to check the drain because its not a straight 45 going to the pan.

Re: ls vtec turbo takes 3.5 oil qts or smoke
I have a moroso and had a new fitting welded to it so the drain would be as short and strait as possible. The original fitting was poorly welded anyways and was leaking so I had it cut out and patched.
