Hahah nice play on words. Thanks! I really wish I could see how much play in there I should have, I feel like I can turn the belt side to side a little too freely

Trust me bro, you are perfectly fine. You don't want to over tighten the belt. Seeing your progress gives me the itch and I can't wait to get my block back from the machine shop.

I just did it like 15 times and kept getting the same result, so I'm sure it's fine. Unless anyone else wants to chime in.

And if I can do a build, anyone can man haha

I'm back! 3 months later. I got de-moted then promoted at work, so there was a financial juggle I had to deal with for a while there. Looks like I'm going to have to hustle to get this car running before the season is over. Anyways, since I've been gone I installed the plugs and wires, misc sensors, got my ECU and ordered some parts.

Just today I got my HAsport mounts (street bushings) in. Unfortunately I have a 3 bolt left mount on the engine, and the kit I have is for a 2 bolt left. Just ordered a 2 bolt left mount, should be all good once I get that in. Waiting for that and a TD44U dizzy.

I'm driving my new daily driver around now, so I think soon I should pull the d series out of the Honda and get to work.

Parts to buy: Clutch/PP, axles, halfshaft, and OBD1 harness.

Going to wait to install the LSD till I'm boosted. I'm getting too antsy.

Here's the engine minus the plug wires and mount bracket.

Alright, nearing completion. Just got the new bracket in the mail, got my throttle cable/bracket and waiting for a new vtec solenoid gasket.

Still need a clutch/pp, axles and halfshaft, wiring harness, misc sensors (speed sensor etc), some seals for the trans, and some misc bolts
Anybody know where I can get a fairly priced OBD1 vtec harness?

I'm trying to think if there are any other parts I'm missing, which I'm sure there are. I think this weekend or next I'm going to start removing the D series and get this started. I'm so close I can taste it!

Hopefully soon! Going to buy a harness tomorrow, gotta find time between work schedule to stop into Acura to get some bolts

Can I use a GSR alternator bracket? Or will it not fit on a B18b1 block?

Okay, got my clutch and pressure plate, alternator bracket, and some misc bolts I was missing. Found out I have the wrong starter, so I'll be needing that now. Still have a few misc bolts, harness, intermediate shaft and axles that I need to get. But anyway, started taking the car apart, front bumper was a pain in the *** to get off sine the previous owner decided to use 7 varieties of different bolts/nuts. This shall be rectified.

Glad to see you are still turning wrenches on the car! Looks like it's coming around and will be a strong, reliable setup!

Okay worked for an hour tonight, got all the fluids drained, radiator/hoses out, fuel rail, wiring harness, and brakes are now out. Had to stop short don't have the right size socket for the axles at the moment. Not too bad for an hours worth of work. Next step is axles and I believe I should remove the intake manifold to make things easier. Any tips or suggestions from you guys?

Both axles are out, ready for a hoist and remove the engine/trans. Any tips for removal and installation? I am having a little bit of trouble re-sealing the new trans, which is frustrating. I'm under the impression it has to be in neutral (how the hell do I tell?), and then that snap ring on top needs to be released to slide over.

Got the case put together, but the input shaft won't spin now. I don't understand it, I didn't remove any of the gears or internals at all, I just pulled the case to inspect it. I may just pick up a GSR trans that was rebuilt has 20k miles on it for $400.

Any idea of what would cause the input shaft to not spin after removing the case and re-assembling?

Alright today I picked up that GSR trans that was rebuilt 20k miles ago, picked up an engine hoist and went to town. Got the engine and trans out of the car. I've got some cleaning to do.. I don't want to remove all the brake lines and everything to paint it, but I wanna clean it up and make it look nice. A few bottles of engine degreaser and a pressure washer should do the trick, then maybe I'll sand the sides and core support down and give it a fresh black coat to make it look a little better.

With the GSR trans, which T bracket do I use? The one I have doesn't seem to fit it

you need a 94-00 rear bracket.how i put my motors in is . i slide the motor under the car. if you want you can let sit two block of wood. then lower the car and have the rear t bracket kinda bolted to the back mount. when you lower the car make sure to lean the motor foward. so it clears the t bracket then once the motor sits low enough bolt up the mounts. if the mount doesnt reach just jack it up .

Today got a lot of cleaning done. Soaked 2 and a half cans of engine degreaser in the engine bay, then pressure washed it then went in with a rag and soapy water and scrubbed a lot of the grimey stuff off. Once that all dried I gave the whole bay a nice layer of gloss black. Waiting on some parts in the mail to drop the new motor in.. Soon!

i dont know if this has been covered but did you align hone the mains with the arp main studs? they tend to warp the mains due to the higher torque value... its pretty standard practice to align hone any motor when swapping from bolts to main studs

Unsure if it was align honed. Reputable builder put the internals in, so I'm assuming he did

Well these pictures kinda suck, but the engine is in! Just gotta install a starter, the harness, and the axles and I'll be good to go. Hopefully soon, gonna be spending a lot of time trying to get it running if money will allow.

Finally off the stand
