LS/VTEC TURBO QUESTIONS
I know there are a many ls/vtec threads but im making this one because i did not find answers to the specific question i am about to pose.
set up : LS block, CIVIC TYPE R head, both stock
#1 What rpm can I safely rev to with this ls/vtec turbo format? Im assuming not as high as I would have if it was just a ctr turbo?
#2 Will it be safe to tune and drive daily on 91 octane considering the compression ratio on the LS is about 1.5 less than it was with the CTR.
#3 with a proper tune @ 350whp how long can i reasonably expect the motor to last before it pops?
#4 what concerns should I be aware or of look out for if i am doing this set-up?
#5 who has an ls/vtec, what is your set up, and what kinda #s did you make? got dynographs?

Re: (187Chor)
if you plan to keep the stock rods 8000rpm would be ok for a while but even that is kinda pushing it. buy a set of ARP rod bolts (which is cheap insurance) and have it put together with new bearings and proper clearances and you should be ok to 8500rpm....
you will be fine running 91oct fuel as long as the tune is good and safe. although the cost of 91 to 94 oct is minimal so its always better to be on the safe side. that is your choice....

with the LS 5th gear i dont mind not being able to rev as high as before because i will still have a decent top speed even if i set my redline at 7500 which is my plan (and which im hoping is safe).
i will fill 94 oct when i can but want it tuned on 91 for those many times there is no sunoco in sight and i can rest easy knowing i can put 91 at any pump.
thx for ur input
