Ls/Vtec turbo freeze plug question?
Hey guys I've been away for a while and I can't for the life of me figure out what these ports are for? What size and thread are they, it's a B18a block, and since I'm use to dealing with Vtec blocks and they look different I'm lost!
I'm assuming it's feeding into the oil jacket as they are open ended...
Thanks for your patience and help fellas!

This is an older LS block, the one on the left is for oil temp sensor. the DA integra had one. i forget what the hole on the right is for.

Re: Ls/Vtec turbo freeze plug question?
No oil pressure is 1/8 npt and its not on the plug on the block its on the block its self like all b series engines. Also the top right plug is not for knock sensor. knock sensor doesnt come on b18a/b engines and its also closer to the top of the block as detonation occurs between the head and block not down that far which would be where the crank journals are
out of the three hooles shown the one on the bottom left that seems like its plugged from the pic is for the oil pressure sensor. the one on the left is for oil temp sensor for DA integras and the one on the top right im not sure of. i believe there is just a plug that goes in there not a sensor.

If it helps any here is my first gen b16 block for referrences... But since I've never dealt with non-vtec's before I'm kind of lost...
Thanks guys,

yeah on the b16 block you have in that pic the sensor with the two prongs and green on it that one goes into the plug hole you have on the left side in your pic and the hole on the right top should just be plugged

the top right hole is for the green two prong obd0 ECT switch. the one on the left with the big nut is oil temp and the bottom right is the oil pressure sensor.

This is the part that may get confusing.
There are 3 sensors on the back of the block of the B18A. Oil Temp, Oil Pressure and a coolant fan sensor.
The B18B has one oil sensor installed, the other oil sensor is plugged off with a 32 mm plug, and no coolant fan switch. You need to remove the plug. Where the plug is on the B18A there is an oil sensor with a threaded adapter, you need to re-use that adapter so the sensor can fit. Ok so the 2 oil sensors are hooked up then you can deal with the coolant fan switch. This is where you need the thermostat cover from the B18B, it is identical except for the fact that there is a threaded bung with a radiator fan switch installed. You need to cut your original harness and extend the wire about 8 inches to reach. The coolant sensors are not similar and the original connector will not fit. I wired in the connector from the B18B harness to give it a clean look.

Re: Ls/Vtec turbo freeze plug question?
Anyone know what size hex those freeze plugs are? I think I might be able to swap the b16 plug for the b18a on the left side port...
Thanks,
Anthony
