Default LS vs. GSR for turbo. overlaid dyno plot...kinda weird.

I threw this together. I know all cars vary, but it should give you a basic idea of the difference of LS vs GSR.

looks like some tuning needs to be done to that GSR

Sure, VTEC head should fix it.

When i ran a ls for a couple months i noticed that dip in torque as well. I would recommend a larger turbo, something in the e family for the ls. Opening up the head (ie. exhaust porting), crower cams and better intake manifold will all help tremendously. I did the exhaust porting myself, which made a noticable gain on the butt dyno. I never dyno'd that set-up either. I got greedy, ran 18lbs for about two months until the block let loose. Spun a rod bearing, and things were done for that engine quickly. Mainly having a better flowing head will take care of that problem that you are experiencing right now.

hmm..above 6.5 the gsr smokes..thats where ya race ..but on a side note...it does look like some finer tuning is needed

The ls graph looks good for street... what size turbos are on the ls and gsr respectively?

cams and cam gears will change it totally
thats if theres a capable tuner.

what kind of turbos, boost pressure, set-up, state of tune, etc.??? It's hard to compare without knowing the details.

yes. i believe that plot is decieving. a GSR with a similar setup to the LS should have very similar torque curves from 4-6k rpm.

Agreed, though the LS will make peak torque a tad bit sooner they should be close. That GS-R's HP cruve looks evil compared to the LS.

What setups? Unless they're close to identical, there isn't much reason for a comparision. Looks like the LS is having some trouble above 6K, could be leaning out from the looks of the dyno plot. The GS-R looks like it need some tweaking in the VTEC area of course

How can you just overlay 2 dynos and expect to compare them? Are they the same turbo? Same turbo kit? Same boost? All the mods are the same?

Reasona for it falling out , cause the LS head doesn't flow more than 5,600RPM. You could PP and give it a good angled Valve job.

exactly...... if they are on similar setups the gap should not be THAT great...

boosted hybrid - What was the cause of the spun bearing? Rod bolt stretch? Another question: Was the bottom end completely stock?
