Default LS Turbo....high dreams crushin reality...

Hey guys....some of you may know that I just recently turbocharged my car .... well ...i got sum bad newz.... the Turbo is toast!!!
it wasent the shop ....it was the stupid turbo that f*ed me up...

Heres the story...I finnaly got a killer deal with a custom turbo set up over the internet off some guy in Arizona....and got it installed at a local shop a month or 2 later.... I finnaly picked up my ride at the shop "freakin out that I finnaly turbocharged my car" after only 10 minz of drivin my boosted LS to the gas station i noticed my BOV stopped go off and my turbo started makin weird noises....So I drive it back to the shop and Phil tells me the bad newz...... my turbo had sum Serious shaft play..... I was devastated.... so I cant drive my car at all anymore untill I get another Turbocharger or send the one i have right now to get it rebuilt....ehhh it sux I tell u..

But Phil is helpin me out gettin my car back together and we just bought a Garrett Turbo that were going to replace as soon as it comes in....heres some pix.... check out the scratchs the turbine did on the last pic.....( its the whiteish part )

Sucks, especially when it's like soon as you get things close to being done and ready to be enjoyed that something goes bad with it.

All I read was "I got this killer deal on a turbo setup" and I just knew I'd see a SSAutoCrap mani with a matching turbo.

hmm, I would definitely make a filter fit on it somehow if you are driving anywhere except for a track......i.e. rocks (enough said)

Shouldn't they check the turbo for shaft play before they did the install?

there was no shaft play.

MJM auto ( dont be mistaken for MJM turbos) rebuild sthese turbos. you see them all over ebay . i've had a total of 3 turbos **** on me like this. 2 blades were unbalanced. comp nut flew off. bent the shafts etcc. the others burned oil.

its a shitti rebuilder. and these are NOT turbonetics turbos. just the housings.

as for the intake. the guy drove down the street 4 miles to get gas. theres no signs of impeller damage due to debrise. you can see however. the blades hit the housing and the " whiteness" from scraping.

btw more than half of the people on HT dont run filters.

i run one on mine. only cuz i have a 1200$ turbo in my car. if he had a slim fan we coudl make ti work but he doesnt so no filter for him.

ssautochrome = pure ****

mjmturbo is a much better company.

definitely get a filter. if you even slightly care for your motor/car you will get one.

I made my own filter yesterday out of two layers of window screen and a layer of terrycloth in the middle. It'll save a snail from rocks and dust and it doesn't interfere with airflow at all.

Not a difficult solution to come up with.

all the ebay stuff is MJM auto not MJM turbo's

and the screen thing he was gonna do when he got home.

it does not justify the major shaft play/ thrust play from going down the street to get gas.

I wouldn't even bother my time with the rebuilt, and Jason at MJM Turbo will tell you the same

Save what you have, and ship it to Jason...i'm sure he'll work you out a deal on a good custom spec turbo for an awsome price!

(I got both of my turbos from MJM Turbo, 2 of my friends have as well...and we've even got some semi-truck turbos as well...all super quality rebuilds!!!)

MJM Turbo in Alabama =

MJM Auto in Sloreville =

im wondering how pissed off MJM TURBO is at MJM auto for basically creating a name similar to them and offering a SHITTIER service and have so many people think tis MJM TURbo's fault.
