Re: Ls turbo guys. 15w-50 full sythetic too thick? (lsVtec...)
first oil changed with turbo, i used 20w50 mobil1 synthetic, so i figured it probably too thick so i changed to 10w30 and i noticed now with the 10w30 i burnt about 1qt in like 1.5k mile. next oil changed im going back to 20w50.

does valvoline offer synpower in 10w50 or 20w50?
i use 10w 30 synpower and i run low on oil after 2500k, no leaks, just quick burn. but i try to change it every 2k now.

I use mobil 1 15w50 in my stock h22 turbo....the other oils burn to easily this holds out through the 3k miles before i change it....what I prefer.

i use 15w 50 as well it is for super/turbo charged applications and keep alot of ring blow by and turbo seal blow by from occuring, and you dont hardly burn it, plus its syntheetic so you cant go wrong, but if you have a tiny leak, the synthetic will find it!!!!!!!!!

synpower is avaliable in 5w20,5w30,5w40,10w30,15w40,and 20w50.....
valvoline also just released a maxlife synpower for higher milage cars that burn or leak oil , its main purpose it to decline oil use and offer the same synpower benifits......
regards

who the hell am i? well i'm this 5'8" asian (hmong) guy with an all white teg with an ELITE AUTOSPORTS sticker on the rear side windows...a huge precision 750hp intercooler up front...itr lip...oem sideskirts...painted white 17" konigs...3" thermal exhaust in the rear...etc, etc. lol.
and you've never seen another honda over 300hp? well i'm well over that...lol. if you meant WHP then yeah i'm just above it at 10psi...but turn it up to 15psi and i'm well over 350whp
anyway, there are a few other hondas rolling around making over 300whp...and i know most of them around here. my buddy Tyler and Xai are the only two up here that i know of that are making over 400whp on their daily driven hondas...but both did this with c16. that's not what i plan on doing...

Thicker oil running through the turbo means it's harder for the shaft to spin. Don't know if it's true but it seems to make sense.

^^ yes this is true. your turbo will spool slower with thicker oil...you just won't notice it since it's only a slight difference. however, try doing this during the cold *** winters and you'll notice the slower spool up time.

Mobil does not come in a 10-40 I have seen and its seem to be the same for valvoline full synthetic. In my daily driver turbo civic I use 10-40 non synthetic, in my weekend turbo civic I run 15-50 mobil one full synthetic. 10-30 synthetic burns fast and seems like my turbo might smoke a little with it, 15-50 gives no problems.
