Default ls/tranny or b16 tranny for turbo

my friend here has a fully built turbo type r and i have a ls/vtec all motor. I want to trade him my ls trans for his type r of course i will give some money but thats not the issue. I tell him that the ls is better for a turbo car and that it will help his times a little bit but he does not trust me. will some one out there put some of there own experience on this topic.

I run an LS trans on my setup and my only compaint is falling out of boost. You really need a lot of RPM if you are runnin an LS trans on a vtec motor, in my opinion

Your wrong. Shorter gears will accelerate faster.

yup. you are wrong. shorter gears will always be quicker, given you can hook the tires up sufficiently.

LS tranny is only handy for going over 135mph on a boosted setup.

Good thing my car with a B16 trans will do 135 in fourth and 160+ in fifth on dinky *** 205/50/15's. On my normal tires (26/9.5/15 MT's) fourth gear is just over 150. I'm more than likely moving up to a big T4 frame turbo this summer, I'm going to need a 4.785 FD so that the car doesn't bog down. B16/ITR gears arn't even that short, and LS gears flat out suck in a VTEC motor.

I have a friend with a turbod gsr who had a ls tranny but now has just switched to a b16 tranny. He said that the ls tranny was nice for highway use but said that the b16 accelerates much faster

Earl said on a higher horsepower street car an LS tranny might be beneficial if you get massive wheelspin, not that it's the best choice. My MT's hook up in second with over 450 WHP, so I really don't care about controlling wheelspin

this is true but U know something, notice in threads like these no one ever asks what power the car is expected to have. automatically people say get a b16 tranny, ls sucks. but anyway, not everyone will drive around on MT's OR take a car to a dragstrip. people shouldnt be quick to say b16 trannyy.
