Re: ls rods in D why not gsr rods in D (yellowmonkeyboy)
i would think they don't. just a guess because the stroke is different. well they probably fit on the crank but the gsr has a shorter stroke so the rod would probably be taller. and yah... for all that work... u should just throw eagles in. better investment.

Re: ls rods in D why not gsr rods in D (M.A.R.C.)
It's been covered before.
LS rods need to have the Big end sides machined and the Pin end bushed from 21mm to 19mm. A competent shop should be able to do it.
GSR rods will not fit. different BE bore and rod length

Re: ls rods in D why not gsr rods in D (GPNY)
I think that B16 rods will work.. I remember reading on it a while ago.. Problem is that the rod legenth is longs so I was thinking before about using the B16 rods and Vitara pistons in a D to make up for how low the Vitara pistons sit in the block..

good thinking, anyone know what the differences are between the B16 and D16 rods? Like machining the BE and rebushing the the top like the LS rods?

Opps.. The B16 rods are shorter than the stock d16 rods.. You can use the B18C rods though.. You basically need to do the same machine work to the B18C rods as you do the LS rods.. And the B18C rods are a little longer than the LS/D16 rods..

I'm just wondering because i can get a set of b18c rods for free because my friend is upgrading to eagles......

Exactly. So you have to have LS rods machined to fit and go through all that work for like 10% more strength. ??Why?? when eagles run ~$300. Them D series guys are a different bunch...

Which makes the rod legenth longer.. Thats why I was saying use these with the Vitara pistons.. Since they sit lower in the block the longer rods should make that up.. I really havent sat down and checked how much it would change them but its a thought..

i've heard the puerto ricans or something like that use b16 rods and supra pistons in d series engines and it makes a very potent combination. the shorter b16 rod and taller piston the supra has makes up for the rod length issue.
IMO, i would just buy aftermarket rods. Its the same arguement about using type r cams in an "all motor b series". Sure it will work and be a little stronger than stock, but if you're going to go through the trouble, go big or go home.

They are make from a different material than oem honda ones are.. They have a different hardning process which makes them stronger and they have stronger ringlands than oem honda ones do.. And they are $125 brand new shipped with rings..
