LS rods on boost
 

Was thinking about boostin the motor w/ the LS rods and CP 9:1 pistons.....how good will the rods hold up? How much power/boost????

I want to know the same thing, I just got my SRP 9.2:1 pistons and a block guard and I was wondering if I should get rods too, or if not how much boost I can run with the stock rods and this setup?

I dont mean to sound like a dick but why would you use cp pistons with stock rods? You should have replaced the rods as well. If you would have used forged rods you would have had no problem boosting 15psi and more with good tuning. Anyways if you had it tuned well you would have no problem with 10psi, I run 9psi daily and 11psi at the track and I have stock pistons and rods. Rods are the week point when boosting much more than this.

I say the rods should handle at least 7lbs....try boosing it up a little at a time, if it starts to run funny...time to boost down... your car blows....haha

What does 7 lbs have to do with how much compressive load they can withstand?

wow, thats good advice.

ya der buck, just crank the boost, and if you hear shit break, turn it back down. people like you give backyard mechanics like me a neverending line of cars to work on https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

edit. my best suggestion would be to at least upgrade your rods to eagle, if it was me, it would be done just for peace of mind. they aren't that expensive either

My best bet is to tune the car well. Stock LS has good reliability at 250 whp with the usual kit setups... 275-300 whp stock block are not unheard of, although lifespan is much shorter. At those power levels, you're making more torque than 600+ whp boosted B16's; it's the torque tears the rods apart - or detonation if your tune is screwy because you "ran more than 7 psi.".

I made 300 on LS rods....in my single cam.

ls rods can handle up to 300 hp FACT.
