LS motor and t3/t4 of .63 and 54, any thoughts PLEASE???
I might be buying this turbo. Its a T3/T04E .63 turbine Stage3 wheel with 360 degree thrush washer and a .54 A/R compressor. Anyone here have it on their ls motor. Or could you tell me what this one will do for me......
My LS is stock. The setup is gonna be as follows:
DRAG3 manifold
Tial Wastegate, thinking about the .46 bar spring (is that the one?)
Custom downpipe, prolly 2.5 inch
2.25 mandrel catback with test pipe
Bosch high pressure inline
Vortec 12:1 FMU
Stock injectors --probably in future RC 310's with 8:1 FMU disc.
No type of fuel computer, but maybe an S-AFC if you guys tell me to get one!
1G DSM BOV
Modified 2.25 in/out starion IC (the JB Weld special)
2.25 charge piping throughout.
Lookin for 5-7 on the street and up to 12 on race applications.....
What do you guys think. I checked out the compressor map and it should be good for the lower boost I wanna push on the street and will be better if I up the boost with tuning, larger injectors and maybe high octane gas (I can get 100 octane at the pump here in Pa!!).
Is this turbo too big? He showed me his dyno plot and it starting boosting at 3500 rpm and reached full boost by 5500 rpm. Is the .63 too big for a low revving LS motor?
Oh yeah, Im getting it used at $600 . Owner says it only has about 20 1/4 passes and about 30 dyno pulls. It takes his VTEC powered CRX full race car to high 9's in the 1/4 with 22psi and 11's with 15 psi. I figure easy 13's for my car.
Please tell me what you think. Man o' man I am getting so boost hungry, especially with all the turbo NJ guys that recently came out of the woodwork.

NJ guys comin outta the woodwork ?? I think we came out 2 years ago, just finally finished our big projects now... another one is going to be coming out at the end of this week too
anyway i say 600 is an awful lot for a used turbo. If you are going to get a turbo for 600 make sure its one you can stick with and upgrade for a long time. The 54 trim is a little bit small for your motor, i strongly suggest going with a 57. A while back i had an entirely stock b18b1 with a 57 trim and a .63 a/r exhaust and went low 12s for 2 years, the motor never blew up.
Also lookin at your setup i would highly recommend going with a hondata 1b instead of the FMU and fuel pump setup. The hondata will be far more accurate and safe, as well as the fact that you wont have to change fuel pumps out. Also you wwont need an AFC so it will end up costing the same and give you far more performance.
As far as that guy syaing he goes 9s with the turbo? Thats a lie. Unless the car weighed under 1000 lbs its impossible imo. No way can 7 psi make a car drop 2 seconds. Even 11 secs at 1 bar of boost is far too optimistic, i would proceed cautiously on that deal.

Hey Geoff, thanks for the reply. Can you give me more stats on your LS motor that went 12's? Also I called Majestic and they recommended a .48 turbine and a 57 trim compressor--I was thinking today this might be better since its only an LS and can only goto 7k stock.
Also looking on the hondata site. I noticed they dont have a stage 1B, just 2b,3b,and 4b. Also my stock ecu is already chipped with a removed speed limiter, no rev limiter and little better fuel/air map--similiar to the XS chip.
What else is all the other stock LS guys running for their turbo? ****, what to do, what to do!!!

there arent really stats on the LS motor, it was a stock motor. Stock meaning from the TB to the cams to the head gasket to the pistons. It had 440s and a turbo kit i made. I used a PMS for fuel mgt and there is not much else to tell.
I am with majestic for the most part on those turbo reocmmendations, but if you intend on building the bottom end, go with the .63, it has more potential. For everyone who wants a stock b16 or stock LS i recommend a .48 /r exhuast.
The hondata 1b has no press on it jsut yet but i assure you it exists.
if you have any questions just drop me a line, geoff@full-race.com. We sell the turbo majestic quited you 720 for for 680, and the .63 for 700.

Cool. Thanks for all the info. I will be contacting you withing the next week or 2 regarding the purchase of the .48 turbo. Great price too You sure your name isnt Ben and not Geoff, hehe. Also that works better for me cause your only a state away where as majestic is in Tx (I think). Also I will be contacting Hondata about that stage 1b.
Can you also tell me what the other person said about my ECU not being OK for boost since it has a N/A chip in it?
Geoff, also again. Do you sell Tial W/G's. Im lookin for a good price on the 35mm.
Thanks for the help!!

whoa buddy easy there ... I was making over 500hp at wheels in a street driven hatchback when people were busy learning how to do hybrid swaps.
that trim will complement a VTEC head with the LS bottom very well.

Yeah I have watched a .50-trim lay down 494whp (at helacious boost). The .54 is a good one. The .57 only makes a little bit more than the .50 (maybe like 20-30more hp potential?).
I think you will like the .48 too on your straight LS. It spools up SO fast. Don't try the .48 on any high-revving VTEC tho. Chokes BADLY above ~6500RPM.

Still boosting like nuts. 2 and a half years with stock motor and no standalone. Still running good. Saving money for standalone and injectors. Still having lots of fun.

hey glad to hear you and arturbo doing well... speaking of standalone, one of my new sponsors gives a really good deal on their kit, its piggyback off the stock ecu and runs insane ... they install and dynotune it for liek $1500 buks ... all you do is drive away and enjoy the car. I saw a graph of a twin turbo porche, holy crapola !!!
anyway, if you need to give them a buzz, do so with my name as your reference, Greg Samaroo
call up Rob at IDA PERFORMANCE @ 732 591 1245 and ask away with questions ... the guys are really nice there
