Default Loud whistle, But No boost

Hey I have been having some major probs this year. I just had a new impeller and the turbo completly rebuilt. So I slap it back on and go out for a rip.

Well, for the first night, when ever the car is going into boost you hear a loud, Louder then normal(Siren Like) whistle and then the wastegate would crack open and thats all you would hear. I let it go as I thought, maybe its cause its new.

The next day, I try to go into boost and all I get is that loud *** siren noise and no boost. Not even a pound.

Tonight, I am going to test the system for leaks but I don't understand why it would be able to boost and then not boost at all.

I took the intake off the turbo and ran the engine. The impeller does spin and pick up speed as you gas it. Also, it does not make the noise in Neuteral. If I rev it in neuteral and release the throttle I can feel the BOV releaseing pressure.

I don't know what else to tell you, It just seems like I am having the worst luck.

Do you think my intercooler might have a hole in it all of a sudden.

Please help, I feel like I want to roll my car off a cliff.

My car randomly stopped boosting the day after we finished it up. Turned out the wastegate actuator exploded inside. I'm not sure if you're running an internal gate or not, but if so, pull on the actuator rod, and see if you can move it easily, if so, time for a new one. How does the car feel other than the no boosting?

Also, the BOV should release pressure. The throttle plate is enough of a restriction that a few psi of pressure builds in the charge pipe before any boost builds in the manifold.

I dont think its this because the wastegate is External and has an open dump. So it would have to be a really load exhaust noise.

You might have something there. Are silicone Couplers prone to cracking? I have never heard of one cracking.

exactly what i think..

I used a rubber connector from the turbo to the first charge pipe.. and after a while i couldnt boost much.. then didnt boost anything , and it sounded like the turbo was getting loud as hell.. took off the connecter, and just as i speculated, it had a hole in it..replaced it , works fine now

Guess what, its the turbo. I had the owner of the shop where I had it rebuilt come by and he confirmed it. SO I have to rip it off the car again!!!

This is bulshit. DOes anyone out there have detailed instructions on how to rebuild a T3 .48 Ex .60 Comp 50 Trim turbo.

The funny thing is I am having a Tech from Cummins Deisel do the rebuild so you would think he knows what he is doing seeing as he rebuilds T4's all day.

I Wish I never bought a used turbo!!!!

YES>>>>check ur ic piping... and check the coupler on the turbo.. it could have broke or burned a whole in it.
