looks like Edelbrock copied me.. :|

Looks like they must have stumbled across my old D16Y8 turbo setup in my civic, and copied it
They use the same additional injector idea that I used on my kit (4 additional injectors mounted into the intake manifold ports) and it looks like they used exactly the same Link ECU as I did, except put their own sticker on top of it.
Someone had to have copied it sooner or later.. oh well..
They're gonna make a lot of money out of this one..
My tuner seemed unhappy when he stumbled across this and showed me.

Re: (DLOTYPER)
I ahve been in the game for a bit now, and turbo pandas setup was the first like that, that I ahve seen. But maybe they just came up with the same idea. Allso, to let you know, turbo panda has had that setup for a while....

LMAO.....Edelbrock did that kit without ever seeing your car!
Extra injectors have been around a long time. When I worked at Honda Performance Development, we placed extra injectors all over the place, and moved them around depending on whether it was geared to better horsepower or fuel economy.

Re: (HXMan)
what does the secondary rail let you do?
So it can switch from the stock injectors (fuel efficiency, good idle) and switch over to other ones for race?

That is how the fd3 (93-95 RX7)supplies fuel- primary and secondary inectors. Mine had 750cc primary and 1600cc secondary.
I doubt very seriously jg copied turbo panda, seeing as how factory turbo cars in early 90's were using this idea.

Re: looks like Edelbrock copied me.. :| (turbopanda)
call me stupid (please don't... ) but i don't see the benefits of having additional injectors if the setup is done "correctly" (i.e. injectors large enough to support the applications and a stand-alone to tune em)...but i can prolly undertstand the benefits of such a setup in the old days, when injectors weren't as effecient and it was a lot more difficult to have ultra-large ones run at low RPM and idle effectively...
but now we are in the 20th. century...why would u need this type of setup?

Were you the first to use red couplers too? Did they copy that too? JK

Re: (Mac8008)
LINK electro systems are made in New Zealand theres plenty of guys using additional injectors. Though that ECU looks similar to the "turbo LINK" apparently it cannot be retuned which is ghey. Anyone know if thet sell the Inlet mani separately??

Re: (turbozxi)
It only looks like the Link ECU can't be retuned.....but its not much different than an off-the-shelf turbo Link computer.
The secondary injectors were used on the turbo kit so the stock ECU and injectors would work in vacuum and the turbo link would adjust timing, add fuel, and control vtec all in boost. The turbo system was designed to limit the amount of boost it would be in during the smog certification test.
Yes, you can buy the Edelbrock civic intake manifold by itself! There is also a secondary fuel rail kit and a high flow fuel rail. If you want the best deal on the intake manifold...I can point ya in the right direction.

Re: looks like Edelbrock copied me.. :| (TheSwift1)
secondary injectors, doesnt mean the set up was done wrong.
someone can run 4 dsm's with 2 extra's and spend $100 on all that..instead of $500 on some 720's or something..
its just another way to add more fuel. nothign wrong with it. if there was than all the standalones wouldnt come with the option to control extra injectors

Re: (Marauder)
Thats sounds pretty nice. so does the LINK used with the Edelbrock kits, have a plug in for a hand contrtoller? <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Marauder »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">It only looks like the Link ECU can't be retuned.....but its not much different than an off-the-shelf turbo Link computer.
