Default Lookin to build a 1500 $ turbo kit for b18a.

is this possible, and if so, what parts would you guys reccomend, im down for getting a custom manifold from someone here on the board, im open to all suggestions, and yes i would like it to be intercooled with injectors and such. i currently have a SAFC and ignition, so those things are already done. But i was thinking for the kit, some type of manifold with a T3/TO4E turbo (need suggestions on where to get a good but cheap one), and id have a custom downpipe and exaust made, all pipes would be pretty much custom, greddy type S BOV, DSM injectors, and ect ect. just need what u guys think would be a good buildup for around that pricerange.

ya, its like ALL the work will be done cept for the piping by me and my freinds. we know what we are doing so no worries there. member boostinb18 swears up and down he can build a nice reliable turbo kit for like 1500-2000$

im trying the same right now. The only things that I am really having trouble finding cheap is the turbo itself. Other than that its easy. for the IC go with either a starion or half of a ford powerstroke IC. The ford one can be cut in half with new endtanks welded on each. The best part is that the other one will sell for probably as much as you paid for the whole IC. Hopefully you know someone who can weld for you becasue paying someone to do it will cost a lot more than paying a friend (especially since some friends accept beer as payment ). Of course do DSM 450cc injectors. Get your piping for JC whitney. As for the mani, keep watching places like ebay and used parts places. Good luck.

ya, i heard the starion one is good, but i sorta want a big intercooler showin up front im not sure tho, if there are really no preformance diffs then i will go with the starion, and i think my freind said to go to cheapturbos.com for a cheap T3/TO4E.

sure you could build a turbo for that much, but then will it be reliable?
Either spend the money now, or spend alot more later, its up to you

im not really gettin what you are saying, im going the good route, im not trying to build a frickin HUGE powerhouse setup for peanuts, i just want something that will give me a little get up and go for my buck, you know? i only plan to be doin like 5-7 psi daily and MABEY 9-10 on race day, and yes proper tuning and all, i dont plan on being dumb with this.

t3/t4 $550
manifold $450
dsm injectors $100
smc+ $150
bends/hoses $100
dp $150

You can do it, but you will probably end up buying a bunch of other things too. Like gauges and sensors, those are nice to have, so you can tell wtf is happening. Some people on here have done it for less, but they did a lot of work themselves.

half of a ford powerstroke IC
Well, that would fill up the front grill aesthetically, but the problem with the PS IC is that it flows like a cow turd. I'd go elsewhere... they are boost drop city. Joining two Dodge 2.2 or two Mitsu SMIC's together has definite merit for the homebrew turbo.

I've got right at $400 spent on mine, and it looks it. Aside from an initial problem with an unbraced downpipe smacking against road debris and stressing the turbo flange until it broke, I've been totally reliable turbo-wise for 10K now. I run very low boost (4 psi) daily, more to keep the stress off the engine than because it can't handle more.

The only moving parts (read: wear out quickly) in the turbo setup are the turbo/wastegate assembly and the BOV. At $100-150 for a T3 w/ some shopping around and $30 for a Bosch standard BOV, it's not too bad. PVC makes for some groovy charge pipe.

ya im down for the crown when it comes to work, and i can get greedy stuff for cheap since im a dealer...lol so a boost guage and turbo timer wouldent be a problem, and its also a good thing i already have a safc. hack time baby!

Well they arent AS bad when it comes to airflow when you add custom endtanks. Unless its the cores themselves that flow horribly and i just never heard. But from what I have heard its just the crappy design of the endtanks that make them flow so horribly. Please correct me if im wrong. Does anyone know of a decent place to get just cores? As for the mitsu's I dont like the idea of welding them down the middle like that, just to easy to screw up IMO.

I think J.Davis meant he has $400 total into his ENTIRE turbo setup.

I just started building my turbo set-up im doing a junkyard DSM set-up and I just bought a manifold of this guy who was gonna do it but he doesnt have the cash right now, but he got a DSM one took it to a machine shop and got it custom drilled to fit 4th gen Accords. Don't know how much it would cost but i bought mine offa him for 75 bucks.
