Default Look inside for what happens to abused 500whp Ford Lightning pistons!

A few pics of a friend of mine named RamAirSVT on some of my local Car forums, his pistons and rings when he blew his truck up! Nice to see someone soooo happy to blow it up just to buy a built short block! NICE!!! Enjoy!

I guess 500whp on a stock Lightning short block doesn't live forever with alot of abuse! Drive it like you stole it!!!!

hmmm, FORD, Fix Or Repair Daily? Sounds about right, lol. that must have been a very unique sound when the motor let go.

Now, how many times have you seen a rod and piston break at the same time?

Damnit I posted it real quick and never looked at it to see if they showed! Thanks though. Ah the other site only used an "[/i ]" instead of "[/IMG]" and I copied and pasted my pics from there! DAMNIT! Thanks again!

that doesnt seem to be blown by normal over power, but agressive detonation,

nomally the violent explosion of detonation blows a piston downwards, while it still travels upwards

and that pistons seems to have blow while the rod going down ( theres no sign of the piston wrist eating the upper face of the piston, buyt it did the lower part)

means the rod gavae first, then the violent power on the re-stroke, smacked the piston back

I was always a fan of First on Race Day...

anywho

Personal Ford Love aside, I would agree with the above statement of the rods failing first....but at 500HP they shouldn't have broke like that unless this driver beat on his truck allllll the time....

But like above, a built short block would be killer...raise the comp a lil and bam it's a true street rocket!

This is an older gentleman like in his upper 50's lower 60's so he was waiting to blow it up to have a reason to put a built short block in it. And yes he DID BEAT THE HELL OUT IT ALL THE TIME from what I was told. I believe he went 11.80s in it too.
