lol, quick search on ebay and I ended up with new turbo :| ..
uhh .. yeah, not that I planned on buying one. Hell I didn't even research how that one does on our Ds ..
but whatever, I'm having new turbo now so YEY .. I guess
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TD06S...Q5fAccessories
I plan on 10 to 12psi on the stock D16Z6. With the 15G at 14psi I made 232whp, but I drive it at 15psi for 2.5 years now, so with the new one I'm thinking about 250-ish maybe .. dont know, will see.
what do you all think ?

doesn't exactly look like a mitsubishi turbo. but, who's to say it isn't. might actually be surprised with it.

I've never seen a three-bolt manifold flange, or a down pipe for that matter. The specs also state it "utilizes an internal wastegate", but it doesn't show it in the photo that's posted. I'm always weary about buying parts off ebay anymore... I'd rather dish out a little more and be certain I'm getting quality parts than go cheap and end up spending more in the end... just my two cents worth.

yeah I know, I searched for couple days for a good t3/t4 and couldnt find one with decent price. The good ones were 500+ .. Then I looked for new 15G - and F.. they sell for 350+ bucks. Then searched for 18G - not much luck. So I poped the 20G, found this one that seemed very nice, checked the compressor map .. and bought it.
the concern is that the 8cm exhaust housing may be a bit big, but somebody just posted that it equals 0.57 A/R in garrett specs and if this is true then this is the perfect turbo for me.
can somebody confirm what 8cm^2 is in terms of A/R ??

I feel bad that you purchased from Time Reaction. They took weeks to get me my part, and it came in damaged. There was no packing inside the box, and after I gave them a negative review, they offered me a $20 bribe to change my comment. I declined their offer and they decided to open an "unpaid item" case against me in eBay (although I paid for the item in full, weeks ago).
They had a couple other company names too...seems they keep creating DBA's to sucker in new customers or something. Good luck, hopefully you get your parts.

You do realize you're going to need a new manifold and downpipe, correct? Why would you go from a Greddy turbo to an eBay knockoff?

my 15G has like 60k miles on it already and leaks oil a lot. And then I wanted something bigger.
whatever other turbo I was going to pick would've also required new manifold (most likely T3 based) and new downpipe.
the seller has shipped it already, so in couple of days I should be able to post first thoughts

Its very possible that this turbo is going to leak more oil than your 15G right out of the box. These types of turbos tend to grenade themselves quickly. I run an eBay knockoff, but I also have 2 spares for when mine goes. Save yourself the trouble and return it, and rebuild your 15G

And after it blows up you're probably not going to want to buy another one, wasting the downpipe fabrication.. it just doesn't make sense for your setup.

if you're happy with your current output, rebuild the 15g.... or rebuild, and trade + some $ for an 18 or something...
this is a copy of a turbo from a sycolone... get one of the real deals and you'd be happy with output (flows about 550 cfm)

Re: lol, quick search on ebay and I ended up with new turbo :| ..
well it came .. and I gotta say ****'s looking good. It came sealed and oiled good, has not shaft play in any direction, and spins fine.
for now I should say that I'm impressed. The quality looks very good. Hope it wont fall apart though
- now the fun part - how to connect it ?!?! I have couple of options here:
1. use my greddy T25 manifold and have somebody make me an adaptor plate with wastegate opening. So so idea since I could sell the 15G with the manifold for more money and go another route;
2. buy an ebay T3 cast manifold with opening for WG, and then have somebody make me an adapter plate from T3 to this one. Those manifolds I can get for what, 100 shipped ?!?! I guess I'm leaning towards this idea. If the turbo craps out, I'm loosing the adaptor plate and the downpipe, but can still use the manifold for better turbo.
3. have somebody make me manifold for this turbo. This will get expensive, and in case of failure I'm loosing all.
4. make my own manifold. Nahh, cant do it since I dont have time, and welder, and parts, and place .. well just cant for now.
- what do you all think ?
thanks
