Default Loctite on Wastegate Bolts?

I'm running a Drag manifold on a D16Y8 with a Tial 38mm wastegate. I set up the 2-step on my Hondata S300 the other night at the track and it built about 5 psi of boost and would then taper off gradually. After making a pass I then heard what sounded like an exhaust leak. I pulled off into the pit area and checked things out under the hood and found the bolts holding my wastegate on had backed out about 1/8". I figured maybe they had become loose from vibrations driving around, so I waited for the manifold to cool down a bit and then tightened the bolts back down.

I then went to make another pass and again tried building boost at the line. Same situation as before, made about 5 psi at the line, then crap the rest of the way down the track with what sounded like an exhaust leak. I popped the hood again and found the same thing. I tried again one last time, but the bolts kept backing out. I was a little pissed, so after the last pass I tightened the bolts and drove home. The whole way home/since then the wastegate has been fine, no leaks and the bolts are still tight.

I'm thinking about putting two studs with Loctite in the manifold in order to prevent this in the the future. The only other thing I can think of is that I have to mess with the settings for the two-step; part of me thinks that the exhaust manifold pressure is getting way too high, but I figured it would blow out the gasket on the wastegate before pushing the bolts out. Any suggestions?

same thing happened to me. Are you using a gasket, if yes then remove it.

I fixed this by getting long 12mm bolts and using 2 lock washers on each end. The longer bolt goes past the wastegate theaded hole and I put a 12mm nut on the end

It looks like

I have a cast manifold though, so there is no flange to sandwich between the bolt head, lockwashers and a nut. Right now I have washers with hex socket cap screws that thread into the manifold, but I don't want to Loctite the hex screws into the manifold, which is why I was thinking of going with studs in the manifold and nuts.

i use bolts with lockwashers, nuts, and red loctite. i blew my tial gasket once and this fixed everything. (but i don't have a cast manifold.)

use the 10mm bolts from your clutch. u can tighten them more since u can get a 10mm wrench in there instead of trying to use the head of a 13mm
