leak down test results and considering rebuild Qs
hey
just got my leak down test results and it is not that bad ... from dizzy to drivers side i got
10% , 13%, 10%, 10%
I still have a small amount of smoke at startup, could be cracked ringland i am thinking or possibly bad valve guides...
I have the possibility of rebuilding if the ringland is cracked and I had some questions....
If i went with a sleeved block, forged piston and rod combo...
what kind of reliability and longevity can I expect from this at 400hp?
I am not looking to rebuild every 2 years anymore..... and find some random issues with the stock bottom end.

Reliability depends entirely on the quality of the build, and the quality of the tune. Could you get 6 months out of a sleeved/forged setup? Yeah. Could you get 10 years? Also, yeah. Pay the money for good hardware, pay the money for good labor, and pay the money for a good tune, and your motor should outlast your chassis.

Re: leak down test results and considering rebuild Qs
I think im going to get the setup ,
Add my existing setup and swap in the new sleeved block, then build off of that .
Looking at supertec pistons 84mm
Skunk2 rods
Rs machines block sleeved b18b 84mm
$1740 total
Since this is a turbo setup, the guy at the shop said he will cut the piston rings for me and install them on the pistons so i can rebuild the block myself... the idea is so the rings dont over expand and create an issue.
Im thinking this is a pretty dam good deal!
