Default labor costs: what is fair?

I am planning on having a H22 with a turbo built and dropped into my 4th generation 93 prelude. I would like to have the rods, pistons, and cylinders re-sleeved, turbo bolted on, and the removal of the old engine and dropping in of the new. What would you guys say is a fair price for labor on this project? Thanks.

i cant imagine a price for that. So you saying for a built bottom end, plus the engine, the turbo kit, and yanking your old one out. Damn, I hope you have a rich uncle to do this at the same time. 5,000??? or more...anyone else guess

it really depends on your area. seems like any area other than the MD/VA area costs alot less for stuff.

sorry I know this doesn't help

I'd say ~ $50/hr. When it comes to custom work, they can name their price really.

Do it yourself and save a few grand!

alright well, let me ask you guys this. Do you think I even need to replace the bottom end on a H22a1 with about 35,000 miles on it. I only plan to run 8-10 psi. Some people have told me I will have a detroyed engine in just one year. What is your take. This is my first turbo application and my budget for parts and labor is just under $10,000.

lets see.......... SEARCH this has been coverd a billion times

my built motor...bottom end...

sleeves and machine work 1300
pistons 500
rods 750
misc **** including gaskets,bearings, harware, ...... 1600

NOW FOR everything you want
turbo kit (i'm assuming you want a kit) 3500
everything turbo related not in the kit......... 500
labor ~~~ depending on where you go 60 to 90$ an hour they usually spend nearly 40hrs when its all said and done ~3300

now your' up to about 12 grand.......... lets not forget you still need a fuel upgrade and all the other fun **** turbos eat..... like clutches, or any other tired parts you have on your car... new exhaust.... and extra **** you want like a boost control etc...... plan on spending 15grand just to get rolling...... if you're lucky and it all works right

let me put it to you this way...... i've spent over 20grand..... and i just now have the powertrain the way i want it...... i have no money in suspension(other than axles and lsd....../looks/paint whatever

Anthony, how much would the labor cost if I were to drive down to SC and have you help me make this happen. My spring break is coming up here in about 3 weeks. How long would the build and swap take?
