Default L1H1 wideband O sensor with no harness, just wires. Does it require a resiter or such?

the previos owner said he was going to send it with a potiometer(ms), but he didnt. Is it required or can I just tape the wires? I did a search under "l1h1 cut" but didnt get anything,so sorry if its already been covered.

i guess you understand that the l1h1 has a resistor in the connector that you now dont have. that resistor could be any value from 1k to 100k i dont know. its really important as it helps calibrate the sensor. i dont know what to tell you, i wouldnt trust a potentiometer, especially since even if the pot is set to the right value then if you bump it you're screwed.

no I didnt know that they had an resistor in the connector. ****... that could be why my wideband isnt working. Which wire is the pot on? are the resistors a constant value? I'm in an EE lab right now. If I could get the wire color and value it would help out alot.

what i am saying is, there is no way to know what resistor you need. each sensor has a unique resistor in the connector to calibrate it. this is how they calibrate the sensors at the factory. i will tell you now that my resistor was 2.5k ohms. but yours could have been something else.

i dont know which wideband controller you're using so i dont know what to tell you about where to hook it up.

you could probly figure it out from http://www.techedge.com.au

I'm using tech edge 1.5. I grabbed a resistance substituter so I can go anywhere from 1Mohm to .1ohm.

I guess I need to find out what makes the correct resistor work. I dont mind fliping through all the values as long as have a way to tell if I'm on the correct value.

its not the same value for every sensor. since they cant make every sensor identical from the factory, they have to calibrate each one individually with their own resistor value.

missing the resistor shouldnt cause it to not work. mine worked without it, but it didnt read "4.0V" at free air. it read about 4.3V at free air. my value of the resistor was "3.0kohms" im not sure what wires it is, either. i put my resistor in my WB controller so i didnt have to run 2 extra wires to the sensor. good luck

i think its ether my sensor or my tech edge. I posted the out voltages on the pins to see if someone would compare.
