knock sensors? they come factory on close to all cars? hope i havent got pie on my face here and got confused on the subject. but on a b18c for instance the factory knock sensor bolts into the back of the block and measures vibrations in the block hence detecting detonation or pinging etc. if using factory ecu it will just signal "knock" through the engine check light. power fc's measure the "knock" in units and is displayed on hand controller. hope thats what your meaning..

Turbo xs knocklite?

I have a plx r-500 it measures knock in volts...but can be converted onto a graph if you datalog it with their program...

You can also try knockgaurd....its pretty reputable...but not sure how many honda people are running it... http://www.jandssafeguard.com/

Knock sensor stuff is complicated. I was working on something, then got pissed I chose the wrong sensor and gave up. Basically what happens is a knock sensor is a fancy dancy microphone. It will feedback voltage. At certain voltages one would assume its knock. In actuality is far easier to use frequency to monitor knock. There is an equation on pgmfi/vems wiki which tells you the frequency detonation should occur at. Now from here it gets tricky. If you want to do things in the simple manner, you build a bandwith filter. This will filter all frequencies below and above a certain range so you can target detonation. The reason you need to do this is because engine noises can overcome the knock sensor and make them worthless. With the bandwith filter you can just listen to the detonation and it should work pretty well. The fancy dancy way is to use convert everything to digital and filter everything out and then you can use fancy lights and such to let you know when detonation occurs. The digital way is complicated as ****. Now this is basically information I've gotten off Big Moose. Blundar, and some skimming the interweb. According to Big Moose(smarty pants) the JS Safeguard is a very nice/accurate unit. I was reading up on the TurboXS knocklite as well and it also seemed like a pretty slick unit and had good reviews. There was also a bit more "ghetto" knock detection thing on the vems wiki for a knock thing. It was pretty cheap.

He's not asking about det cans. Det cans and knock meters serve essentially two different purposes. Det cans are for use while tuning. You can't always drive with a tube in your ear listening for knock. It would be ridiculous. With a knock meter it is constantly monitoring knock and lets you know whats happening by a light flashing. Way less instrusive. Also much easier as you don't need to listen for what may or may not sound like detonation.
