Default This is killing me, I can't go much longer without my car...

Ok, here's my story. I blew my engine (cracked ringlands and spun bearing) about 4 months ago and put it in the shop about 3 months ago. The quaife was backordered until july so I though that would take the longest, but it didn't. First off, the distributor the shop dealt with kept saying 6 more weeks on the crower rods. Six weeks later, they said 6 more weeks. So I called race engineering who had them in stock and had them overnighted thinking my car would be done in a week or two. When they went to assemble the engine, there was more bad news - my crank was damaged beyond repair and needed to be replaced. I decided to just buy a new crank since I knew I could get it quick and it wouldn't be damaged. This was several weeks ago, but when they went to put the crank in, they found the block was also damaged and needed to be line bored. So they sent out the block to a local machine shop. Once again, there was bad news. The machine shop didn't have the expensive line boring machine so they would have to send it out which could take as long as another month. When I called today, the machine shop said it would still be a while. Sorry for the long story, I am just getting frustrated with this whole thing - one problem after another and I could really use my car right now (bumming rides is getting old).

i dropped my car off July 10th to have my turbo installed, and today is August 29th, and i don't have it yet. I missed the entire summer of turbo fun.

So join the club buddy.

ouch.....turbo install should take 2 days with a kit, maybe 2 weeks for a custom setup.

come to richmond va the block can get done in a day or two i got mine done in two days

For the price of buying a new crank u could have got a whole high mile f22 engine and got the crank out if it thats what i did

when i built my h23 engine

are u plan on run the balance shafts still

I ended up just getting a new crank because I could get it quick and I knew it would be in perfect condition. Yeah, I was still planning on running balance shafts. Whats the advantage of not running them? The car is at inline pro and they already sent the block out to a machine shop that sent it out because they didnt have a line boring machine. Stan said there are other machine shops around that could probably do it, but that he trusted this one the most. It's just been a long sequence of bad luck i guess.

Man it sounds like the machine shop doesn't know what they are doing they should of fully inspected the block in a day or two and told you exactly what you F$CKED up.My car was down for 2 and 1/2 months I blew all the ring lands in all the pistons the same day I put my drag 3 on my 96 GSR. It's all rebuilt now bored 20 over je pistions 9:1, ferrera valves, eagle rods, rc 550 injectors ,hondata, new clutch, and few other things it should be a beast. The motor has 600 miles on it I am going to tune to 18lbs.

damn, I got nothing to complaint then....

cracked the ringlands in march, drove it from texas to LA....drove rit around LA.....pull the motor on the july 4th weekend.....3 weeks at golden eagle, a week at machine shop....started the car and start break in last monday,....

total downtime...1 month 2 weeks....total money spent..god knows how much..

being able to drive your car again and listen to your own CD's again....priceless....

Hehe. Thats nothing. I blew my ringlands February. Bought a b20 block 2 weeks later. Put it in... Car gets STOLEN April, 2 weeks after I put the motor in. Got the turbo back in, in June. July, the B20 ring lands blew on me. A month later in August I put in new pistons and rods.

Hopefully nothing bad happens again!! All bad luck this year!!
