K20a2 6spd tranny - How much power can it handle?

K20a2 6spd tranny - How much power can it handle?
Can this transmission handle high HP? The car will be making at least 700whp. Will more than likely be making 750-800whp after finished with the project.

It will be fine on the dyno. How long it lasts on the street/track depends on your driving.

a buddy of mine said he had problems with the 6 speed and he now has a 5 speed in his turbo'd rsx. I guess they are not as strong as the 5spd...
put down the power and let us know... with that power level your going to break things anyway.

Are you for real about that? Any truth to this statement? I thought the problem with the 6 speed is that people keep on mis-shift and blow-up engines.

well thats why I said "guess"... so I emailed the dude with the turbo'd RSX and this is his reply:
"the weakest link in the K-series is the tranny... i destroyed 1st gear at the track so thats why i have the 5 speed in there, not cause its stronger, just cheaper. i dont know if either are stronger... its just that the 5 speeds gearing is a lot longer. i've heard of a lot of people destroying 2nd gear in the tranny especially with a lot of power. is it gonna be a 700hp street car or race car? i honestly dont like the 5 speed for the street cause without traction the rpms fall way out of power range. "

FYI: Skunk2 usues a bone stock six speed tranny in there N/A race car (315WHP, 200 ft./Lbs) also revving to 10 500rpm

and im sure that tranny was riped apart and rebuilt to their specs

the k20a2 g/box cant handle that much.
cpl racing in the UK is running 390whp with nitrous, with 235/65/15 radials, and he's blowing them up.

it says in their write-up they use an untampered with stock 6 speed honda transmission
