Default K-series: Custom Western Wristpin .200" wall

These are Manuel's wristpins in 0.200" wall thickness. We asked for a matching set of bulletproof pins to go with our JE's. They are made from 52100 material and are Sunnen honed. They also feature a radiused ID, instead of a single chamfer.

You should take them to a good machine shop and have them tapered, you can save quite a bit of weight w/o sacrificing the strength much at all.

Actually, I can have them made to any wall thickness we wanted. When the Kubos started having pin problems, they stepped up to .200" wall thickness and Manuel hasn't heard back from them since.

Yeah, you need them thick like that for big power, but you can taper them on the inside so the outer ends are thinner. It'll save some weight (remember, grams make a difference in this area) and not sacrifice strength. The middle part is what needs to be thick, and it still will be if you taper them. It'll work either way, just mentioning it in case you didn't know and wanted to take the extra step. I'm sure you've noticed now heavy they are compared to a normal pin.

Thanks for the insight! I'll take them back to Manuel and he'll work them over if we tell him how much taper and how deep. Basically rework the ID radius, correct? Any further info you want to share will greatly be appreciated.

I'd share more info with you if I could, but i don't know how much of a taper to put or how far to take it. If this guy makes wristpins, then he's surely made taper wall pins before. It's just more work and more money so they probably only do it when requested. Talk to him about it, he'll know what you're talking about.

Thanks Tony. Will definitely follow up with Manuel.

I tried to find some pics, but this was the best i could come up with. You can see the slight taper in the cutaway pin. Yours will be much more drastic since your pin is so much thicker.
