just ordered 8.5:1 wiseco pistons..questions.
So as some of you may recall I've unfortunately had to rebuild my bottom end due to too much timing.
anyway I was running a 9:1 set of JE pistons @ 75mm.
my new setup will be 8.5:1 wiseco's @ 75.50mm.
I'm really curious to know what I can expect from these changes in compression and displacement.
Will I be looking at HP gains or losses at the same boost pressure as my old setup? I'm thinking I'll have to add a LB or 2 to compensate for the loss in compression, but then the gain in displacement has me thinking it will level things out.
Is this essentially a safer option?
Will there be too much a difference in spool time, and out of boost driving?
I suppose to should also note that this is the second time both my block and head have been milled.

cr should not affect turbo recovery/spool
.5cr isn't much of a difference in terms of power out of boost.
have you thought about working with a new tuner?... go with what they sugguest?

Re: just ordered 8.5:1 wiseco pistons..questions.
i was sort of pressed for time on getting my motor back together and the car out of my place of work.
my options were the 8.5:1 wiseco pistons or 9:1 CP pistons which are a considerable amount of money more than the wiseco's.
realistically I wanted a new set of JE's but they are on back order another 2 weeks, time in which I do not have.

Why so low on compression ? Why. It bump it up not down ? 8.5 is what they did in the 80's for factory turbo cars and they were all slugs for the most part. You should be aiming for high 9's at least

Re: just ordered 8.5:1 wiseco pistons..questions.
us D series folk don't really have too many options out there. All we really have to choose from is 8.5/9/or 10.5+
well those are the options for us z6 folk anyway.
