Just installed DRAG turbo and have some questions...
I have a 1998 integra type r and recently installed a drag turbo kit on my car. I have a 2.5 inch exhaust and a straight pipe for my cat running to the downpipe and I am running 5 pounds. When I floor it in first, the turbo starts to pick up but when it hits 5 grand it cuts back and hesitates until about 6.5 grand. It then starts to pick up again and the turbo is fully spooled at about 7 grand and it takes off! Im assuming this hesitation is the wastegate opening because I can hear it at the exact time the hesitation occurs. Is it normal to feel this hesitation? Also, why is my turbo taking so long to spool? My sister has a DRAG kit on her ls/vtec civic. We have the same wastegate but the spring on my wastegate is a lot more compressed to get 5 lbs. than hers is. Any explanation for this? Thanks for the help...

ive had the same problem with the mid-high end power when i first installed my kit. first of all, i would get another air filter to use in place of the one that comes wit the DRAG kit. the filter they supply is restrictive. i replaced mine with a WeaponR filter and it seems alot better.
you should experience more lag at lower end because of turbo lag. you have a straight pipe so i know it cant be anything that has to do with your exhaust being too restrictive. i still got my cat on.
another reason why youre high end power kicks in at 7000 is because you got VTEC! that jumps you pretty good at higher RPMs.

Sounds like an exhaust leak....recheck all you connections, you should hit full boost no later than 4k

Could my BOV be too lose and letting out air? Maybe that accounts for the spring having to be so tight to get 5 lbs.

yup.. you should definitely check your blow off valve as well. i adjusted mine a little tighter and im diggin the "splish" it makes now.
did you take out the air filter yet? try that... just to see if it makes a difference. get yourself a weaponR air filter. i think they got the best air filters out there... ive tried em all.

Ok I checked my BOV. The lock nut doesent tighten at all. I took out the screw and noticed metal inside the threads of the screw. Im assuming whoever put the screw in at the factory, put it in wrong. I have no threads left (probably none to begin with) and the screw won't go back in now. This is probably the problem right? Im really pissed. First a broken turbo, and now a broken BOV. I tried my sisters screw off her drag kit but the same thing happened. The lock nut wouldn't tighten. Maybe this is why it took so long to spool. Im not sure what will happen now that there is no screw.

I just drove the car with no screw in the BOV. It acted the exact same as before. So I know for sure there was no pressure being applied on the spring before. If I thought my car was fast with all the boost running out the BOV, I wonder how fast it is going to be with a new BOV.
