Price will be the hinge in a pass/fail for this new pump. For most of us, the Walbro 255lph HP is more than enough pump...just because this one flows more doesn't mean its an outright winner. If that were the case, everyone would run an S372 because it outflows most other turbos, but is overkill in almost every setting...

That chart also doesnt show reliability and how well it stands up over time which I think is the most important thing to worry about.A bit less flow can be fixed or accounted for now reliability is another issue.

The pump comes with a 3 year warranty. Walbro comes with a how many year warranty

Warranty sometimes doesn't mean anything. Walbro could give me no warranty at all and I'll still buy their pump, it's a proven product. Most high end electronics/cdi boxes don't come with warranty either, that doesn't stop people from buying them.

Here is the thing about a fuel pump warranty...

#1, if the pump fails...does the warranty cover my motor?

#2, if the pump fails...does the pump get replaced by the manufacturer before they have a chance to test it so the customer has as little down time as possible?

The answer to the above is NO of course...but thats understandable.

Walbro a long time ago would warranty any pump failure, until they realized only a VERY small portion of their pumps were actually failing...and in most cases it was customer dishonesty or installer error.

How does DW plan on implementing their warranty procedure? Right now, it takes Walbro almost 6 months to authorize a warranty return...in the best cases

Thanks for the info on a new pump, but the 255lhp is almost enough for everyone. The 255lhp pumps also have a good reputation for being reliable; I don't think many will swap over, but who knows?

This pump will be a great option for guys running e85...also with the full blown setup you could run 2 of these intank and have 600lph of flow without a new tank or modifying the oem tank.

We appreciate the enthusiasm! We are excited about this pump, too.

We will be officially announcing the pump at SEMA next week and the official release will be around the first of the year.

We have some results to post up over the next couple of months to show the advantages of running the DW pump over the current in-tank options available.

I will be attending SEMA next week, so I won't be on Honda-Tech everyday...but I'll try to check in a couple of times next week to see if there are any questions I can help with.

Sounds like a cool pump....but i'd want some real world feedback on it before i consider it...2k.civic your swinging hard on this pump why? just cause it flows more? do you have any experience with this pump at all? your quick to jump the gun on this pump, im sure its a good product not doubting that.. but saying its better then a proven time in and time out pump is a bit extreme especially since its not out yet .....

Besides a few graphs and in house testing where has this pump been proven in real world conditions? I would love to see that data! And as it was pointed out if the pump fails that is the least of your worries.

i have used a lot of products from deatschwerks....their products are 2nd to no one and their customer service is some of the best ive ever had. if you think they are just releasing this pump with no real world testing you would be incorrect

i dough that its going to be any where near walbros 90 bucks obviously because its larger but in terms of dollar amount per lhp...
just hope they keep it reasonably priced. my guess is it will still be cheaper to do dual w's then one of these but its just a guess let see.


looked at a few other threads talking about DW they where all positive.
but im not gunna applaud this until i see some long term results.

There customer service hasnt anything to do with the performance of this pump. After SEMA I hope they release info on this pump.. besides a graph.. example: will be be compatible with stock wiring, what is the required voltage to the pump to get the said flow out of it 12.5v, 13,v 14v, are we gonna have to direct wire to the battery, alt? ppl are gonna need to know if they have to run a relay with the pump etc etc. What if it gets underpowered will it hold up or burn up.. Im not knocking it at all but if someone is going to make the statement "i'll never buy a 255 again" I personally wanna know why and what points are they basing this assumption.
