Just bought a TD04 Turbo for a great deal. Help me get started on my y7 please
Okay. I have long wanted to be boosted and was saving my money up for the edelbrock kit. However, I am far from being able to afford this so I guess luck found me first. I was able to pick up a mittsubishi gst turbo (td04) for a great deal and it has relatively no play in it-. I know you have probably responded to a billion of these kind of questions, but I have searched and have come up on really anything that helps me. One thing I have learned is that a tD04 is almost perfect for my d-series engine. Here's my current engine setup: D16y7, AEM CAI, Ground wires, advanced timing. Not much yet, but ya gotta start somewhere right?Anyways, what should I start looking for to start my turbo setup. Any help that points me in the right direction will be greatly appreciated as I am not a genious on turbos yet. Where should I start. Thanks.

I know I need BOV, Y8 IM, 400cc injectors, FMIC, Custom piping, hoses and clamps, and no FMU is needed as long as I have bigger injectors right? Thanks.

do you even have a manifold? if you dont then you'll need the greddy d series manifold because its the only one that'll fit the td04h turbo. unless you're talking about getting a manifold and getting an adapter plate welded on. but yeah its pretty simple for fuel management....if you're talking about crazy boost then AFC hack with DSM 450s is probably better but fot low (5-8psi) boost you can run a FMU with check valves. You'll probably want to invest in an inline fuel pump because you'll probably need it anyways. You're correct on Y8 IM & BOV. you'll also need a downpipe made & you'll need to pick up a stainless steel oil line. i believe thats about it

Thanks for the comments! I'm still a rookie on this turbo stuff, but I'm learning. I just had a chance to pick this turbo up for dirt cheap and it has no shaft play so I figured I'd learn up more about turbos and then try and build a kit from this turbo. Any other help would be greatly appreciated also, thanks.
