Re: JRSC w/ 6psi pulley hitting 10 PSI???????!!!!!!WHY? (DeDonDeRosa)
It could be due to an exhaust bottleneck, i.e. restrictive header, cat and/or exhaust. The restriction makes the Jackson push more boost. Also the colder denser air causes it to run more boost. I had the same issue, while running the 8lb pulley mine would hit 12lbs sometimes on cold nights. Since ive switched to 2.5'' all the way through in my exhaust set up it never goes over 10lbs. You might want to check the tension on your belts as well. Hope it helps. Good Luck

It's the cold air. On cold nights mine does the same thing. At first I was just noticing my check engine light blinking (indicating a knock because of my PowerFC setup). When I checked the peak hold readout on my map sensor I was a bit over the 11psi reading on it. Since it's a stock map sensor and not good for more then 11, I was exceeding the map points on the ecu and it was running lean. Basically you can't really do anything about it. One thing you might want to try is maybe moving your intake pickup under the hood if you've got a cold air setup on it. Just do this on really cold night. Again, I dunno how cold it gets where you're at, but when it cools off here in the teens, I see this all the time. Usually it only happens once until the charger heat soaks just a bit to warm things up again. BTW, this is by a 10 psi pully on mine. I've never seen one overboost 4-6 psi... EVER. Most likely it's still a temerature/pressure difference between the engine and the outside atmosphere. Remember that boost is a reading of how much air builds up that the engine cannot consume during it's combustion cycle.

I live here in Tucson and a cold night really isnt that cold, but I would also see 10 to 11 psi, with a 6.5 psi pulley) on a cold night after vtec. Now I get a constant 10 psi with a 2033 cc lsvtec motor and a Crv pulley.

Well, unless you were running "low overlap" producing cam timing settings on your motor, there shouldn't be a reason why you'd see a wacky major jump in boost only in VTEC. A jump like that would be indicative of cam gears set to decrease valve overlap in their respecitve phazing cycles. Either that or someone replaced your JR with a Vortech.
