JRSC SOHC D16Y8 - AEM F/IC Controller(Piggyback) questions
so when i do my modest build for my y8 with the jrsc i'm gonna need something to manage the fuel/air.
new the supercharger kit came with a fuel management unit, and some wiring for the MAP sensor.
but i'm not getting it new obviously cause they don't make it anymore...
SO: i'm pretty sure it's a good idea to get the AEM F/IC controller/piggyback system instead of sticking with the FMU.
probably a better result, better ride, etc. right?
and i'm doing this because i want to pass emissions and using a tuned P28 ECU i'll be in OBDI territory, and i don't want the hassel... any input would be awesome, thanks

Not the ideal way to go, but its OK... I guess if you still need to have OBD2 communication, then its really your only choice. An OBD1 P28(as you already know) with a tuneable EMS is going to be your best option, but wont allow for proper OBD2 communication.

Re: JRSC SOHC D16Y8 - AEM F/IC Controller(Piggyback) questions
there is a way around this problem, well all us jrsc guys with emissions have been able to do. I have emissions in my state, Illinois, I've pass easily. Here are the steps. Also DO NOT USE THE FMU, its garbage and your better off with proper tune and right sized injectors. Also make sure you run your map sensor off the jrsc manifold NOT the throttle body.
when emission season comes around these are the steps I do.
1-zip tie bypass valve so supercharger doesn't create boost
2-remove injectors{440cc} and replace with stock{240cc}
3-remove hondata s300 with conversion harness or stepper harness {obd2b->obd1} and replace with OEM computer.
4-driver around for like 50 miles or hard for couple {warm up the o2 sensors so computer has good readings} and go and test. Pass then celebrate with a beer
5-undo everything and enjoy jrsc
also by the way this topic has been covered lots of time and next time search!!

Re: JRSC SOHC D16Y8 - AEM F/IC Controller(Piggyback) questions
thanks migrod1 - the only thing i'm gonna say is that i have NO experience tuning with an ecu... i would want to at least do something so i can HAVE some experience... so i can do so in the future, you get me.
i guess it'd be similar with the F/IC - but yeah i'm debating now... thanks for the info.
and i looked a little bit, but obviously not hard enough! next time, next time.

@ joeymak1 & migrod1 - i think i'm gonna go with the p28 and when it's time for inspection just clamp off the line... it's cheaper than the F/IC and you get a better tune/runs better anyway.
