Default JRSC and Dry Ice Charge Cooling Experiment

So this afternoon, I decided to try a charge cooling experiment with my JRSC. I'm currently running about 8.5lbs of boost, and managing the beast with a Hondata S300 and RC 550 injectors. As we all know, the JRSC has charge heat issues. Simple physics says that if the intake charge is cooler, and the delta temp constant for a given level of boost, then a cooler intake charge will result in a cooler boosted charge.

I wanted to quantify how much I could lower the temp with a Cryo cooling bath of dry-ice and alcohol wrapped around my AEM CAI. Here is the process and results:

These results were confirmed with datalogging from the Hondata off the stock intake temp sensor (relocated to the supercharger manifold, directly above the blower).

The bottome line?

Cooling a CAI tube with $10 worth of dry ice and alcohol yielded a 20 degree (F) temp drop. I am now considering getting a Cryo2 system to see if I can lower temps even more.

Any advice or comments will be appreciated

did you measure the differance after the charger? that is where it is going to count the most.

^ Yup...try wrapping the manifold and you will see some better results I am sure. If my LHT water to air coils take 100 degrees off my IATs, I bet dry ice would do wonders.
