JG Victor X cracked!
i've had a victor x on my b16 for about 1 year now. and a couple weeks ago, i noticed a crack forming at the base of #1 runner on the head flange. it's about 1" long. anyone ever have anything like this happen before?

I wouldnt worry about it. This is the second time I have heard of an Edelbrock intake manifold cracking. And I know countless cars with this intake manifold that have no problems.

thats weird cuz my edelbrock has a hair line crack on the number 4 cylinder side right where the runner meets the manifold flange. is one inch also and on the bottom side.. i check inside the manifold and could not see a crack but???? hair line cracks are sketchy so i put some jb weld on it just in case? i should have sprayed some soapy water just to make sure but motor was already disassembled. anyone else????

i'll try and get a pic tomorrow. someone decided to steal my digi cam fri night so it's gonna be kinda hard. but anyways, even with this crack, i still would not hesitate to buy another JG manifold. their products are great. and i've personally never heard of this happening before. i dont think the crack has gone all the way through...YET. but i will be contacting edlebrock about it tomorrow.

Exactly, and you really shouldn't need it.
Hopefully Edelbrock will take care of you.
Let us know how it turns out.

thats ur problem. u need to use a regular oem gasket. those hondata gaskets are not perfeclty even. i have sat there and wached a crack form twice as we were installing a intake mani. the thing is on the edges of the gasket its not as thick as the center and when u tighten it down it forces the outer bolts go tighter then the inside bolts.

Re: (nsxmatt)
Im sure if you contacted Edelbrock they would look in to this, They have been making maniflods for over 65 years. Personaly i have used both stock and Hondata gaskets with both of my Victor X manifolds and never had a problem.

well after being on hold for over 30min, i finally got to talk to someone at edlebrock. they told me i could send the manifold to them, and they'd inspect it and decide to cover the 1yr warranty and fix it, or send me a new one, or i could email them a picture of the crack and they could give me their opinion on whether or not to send it in.
as for torquing the nuts, i always do. i've taken it on and off at least 3-4x since i've had the hondata gasket. it's gone roughly 15k miles before it cracked. why would it crack now? i did have it on the car with an OEM gasket for about 30-40k miles.
i'll be emailing them a pic tonight to see what they say
