mine did the same thing. They made a knock knock noise. I was also told this is a normal noise so i never worried. Although i broke my pistons when my fuel computer broke at 16psi of boost and the car went super lean. But i still got 10,000 miles on the motor before that happened without problems.

Total seal rings absolutely suck, Don't get me started on them again. I've never seen bigger pieces of trash.

Re: JE pisotns rattle alot? (GSRacer)
My engine has no internal work done to it and it sounds like that (semi truck, deisel sound). I just did a valve adjustment so, I know it wasn't that. The car pulls really good and sounds good when I rev the engine up, but just has that knocking sound. I only have I/H/E. Should I have a real mechanic take a look at it? or don't worry. The car only has 23k miles right now. Thanx in advance

I can still hear it after driving for a while. I can only really hear it when the car is at a standstill.

The knocking noise might be caused by piston slap b/c of the loose tolerances that the pistons have with the cylinder bore. This happens b/c of the metallurgy of the pistons, which are lower in Silicon(e)? content than the stock cast slugs. They fluctuate in size more with temperature than a high Silicone slug causing the tolerances to loosen up when the engine is cold and then tighten up when the engine warms up.

Is it normal to see a little blow by from the valve cover breather with JE pistons? Some days I see more than others.

Cant see how this can make noise. My engine has also floathing wrist pins (stock pistons) buyt i have no noise at all.

ok...if this sounds dumb u all can flame me...but...could it be your valves knocking? because i thought that they make noise when you start up the car but as your car heats up the valves expand...so then it stops...is it the same with pistons? or am i just a big dumbass?

Forged pistons "clack" until they warm up. They expand slightly as they heat up. I've always run big nitrous shots on my domestic motors and considered forged pistons a necessity. I have never had any premature wear cause by the pistons

Re: JE pisotns rattle alot? (IN VTEC)
As mentioned by everyone it is due to thermal expansion, cold - these pistons have a slightly smaller circumference until they reach engine operating temperature, it is important that if you run these pistons with a standalone computer that you have a good short (lean) warm up enrichment to get them up to temp faster, the slapping can hurt your bores a bit and remove the hone work.
