I picked up a z6 block for 50 bucks the other day and i plan on throwing in some ls rods and vitara pistons for the hell of it. Now ive read that the d15b cam will throw the timing off by approximately 15* when installed on a z6 block, what can i do to overcome this. Im sure that cant be adjusted out at the distributor, would an adjustable cam gear allow for the proper timing?

You're going turbo with this? I think since the Z6 rods can hold over 200 hp and because of the hastle of putting in LS rods and Vitara pistons you should keep the stock block. I also can't see how an almost identical sohc vtec head would throw the timing off by 15 degrees. Put the head on it, put a timing light on it, fix it. you can adjust about 10-15 degrees either way just by clocking the dizzy so... you should be ok.

I already have a stock d15b boosted, and im making close to 250whp with it, the reason behind putting ls rods and vitara pistons in another block is to get me more towards the 350whp mark. The head of the z6 and d15b are basically the same, except the cam.... From what ive read it throws the timing off by 15*. As far as being able to adjust the timing at the dizzy, i already have it as far as it can possible be advanced and im 1* retarded over stock(dont ask i have no clue) so im pretty sure its not going to be that easy.
