Default JDM B16 and Crome......VTEC Solenoid & VTEC Pressure

I hear with a JDM B16 and running Crome you need to cut the VTEC Pressure Wire and sodder it into the VTEC Solenoid Wire or vise versa? Has anyone done this and why does this need to be done? Also where is a good place to cut the wire and put it into the other?

I don't know where you heard it but it isn't true.

I ran that setup on a nitrous hatch with a JDM SIR B16A and used crome pro to tune with and did no such cutting and soldering of ANY wires for that. I have since swapped the motor into another guys car and he continues to run it with a different setup and same tuning software, still no cutting of solenoid and wiring to pressure sensor or vice versa.

Hmm I heard it off a site like pmfgi or sumthing lol. Has to do with Honda ECU's and stuff. Im not sure what i should do. I don't really want to get into VTEC on a basemap to see if VTEC works.

Crome functions just exactly like the stock Honduh ECU, with adjustable fuel and ignition mappings and the ability to switch certain sensors (VTEC Pressure Switch) on and off - as in the ECU doesn't look for them anymore.

The only thing I can think of where you'd be jacking around on your VTEC wiring was some post by Richard at autoserve aka RPT circa 4 years ago. How the hell you drug that bit up, I dunno, but off the top of my head it had to do with wiring oddities of CTR swaps into OBD2 hatched in Malaysia, while retaining the OBD2 ECU. Since you are in America, running an OBD1 ECU, please forget all about that.

Talked to two friends today. Both said that they did not have VTEC. One of the guys put the VTEC soleniod into the VTEC pressure switch and says VTEC works now. WTF?

You need to do it on cars that have no oil pressure switch in the VTEC solenoid. Tricks the ECU to think the VTEC assembly has above 55psi of oil pressure and hence keeps the spool solenoid engaged rather than throwing a code for VTP

That is all.

VTP just looks for a ground path.

I have a JDM B16 in my car (92-95) into a 2000 Civic EX. Using the OBD1 motor, and obd1-obd2 harness and my obd2 ex engine harness. I thought the 92-95 motors did have the sensor. Should I go ahead and connect the two? Would it hurt anything? I'm getting tuned tomorrow morning and dont really want to get into VTEC on a basemap.

Keep your foot off the gas and you wont have any problems You should be babying it or not driving it all until you get tuned.

jump A4 to D6

EDIT: only if your vtec selenoid doesn't have the pressure sensor. if it does you don't have to do anything.

stephan is vince still haven't issues? if so he has a USDM vtec selenoid with pressure sensor, so his is wiring issues with the harness

Ok, I'm just not sure how to tell if my VTEC soleniod has a pressure sensor? Should I just start it and if their is no CEL it should be good to go?

Yup Vince said he still has no VTAK but he said once you tune it, it will have VTEC or something like that lol. Said untuned crome dosent have VTEC. Hell that **** was confusing.

Started it.....NO CEL lights...but the whole motor was shakin a lot when we first started it. Took it around the block and it was poppin, backfiring and died a few times. It's loud as hell. What could be up with the backfire and diying. Hard to get started again after it dies, unless I give it some gas.
