are iridium sparkplugs good for turbo?
i've made a search on this topic but nothing about iridiums on a boosted engine. when i had my car tuned, the tuner suggested i get colder plugs. heat range of 8 to be exact, i'm using 7 when i had the car tuned. he also suggested i get sard iridium sparkplugs but i declined coz they cost too much.
now i'm wondering if getting iridium plugs are good for a boosted engine. i'm boosting 7psi on a all stock b16 engine. i also have an msd 6A if it matters.
so my question is should i get regular ngk non iridium plugs or should i get iridium? and what's the part number that corresponds to a heat range of 8 for regular non iridium ngk plugs and denso iridiums?

Re: are iridium sparkplugs good for turbo? (turb)
it's not worth it for low boost applications. Those iridium plugs are only good for high boost cars such as over 20 psi.
If you are boosting 7psi or so go with:
ngk part#1095 - (Bcp7es-11)
or (bkre7e-11)
Higher boost applications use:
ngk part # 5820 R something.. forgot the rest.

if iridiums wern't good for boosted cars, subaru wouldn't put iridiums in factory into wrx's
what is nice about iridiums is they will last considerably longer with boost than standard plugs.

Everyone that I have suggested Iridiums to have been very satisfied with the results. I, too, was a disbeliever when I was first introduced to them 3 years ago at $10+ a pop. After some assurances from other people they were worth the money. Just don't try to gap them with a regular spark plug gapper.

I'm using Denso Iridiuims and on problems with them. Alot of high powered cars such as Supra TTs, Skylines here use them.
However everone here seems to swear by the cheap and functional BCPR/BKR NGKs so I'll be switching to them at my next oil change.
