Default internal wastegate question-can i take it off?

i have a large t3 along with the rest of pieced together kit. but i want to remove the internal wastegate to use an external unit. can i remove the wastegate or not?? and if not, how much boost can i possibly get out of the turbo? it is a garrett t3 .48 - .42, respectively, i have 310cc in jectors and a 12:1 fmu and fmic from a starion. this is all going on a d16z6 motor. any feedback(positive) would be appreciated.. i did a search but no luck..

Thats not a large t3 it's actually small.I Had the same turbo (specs).
If you remove the wg actuator you will need to have the flapper welded shut otherwise you will have a hole leading to your exhaust.
Or a cheap alternative would be to leave the acuator hooked up and just disconnect the vacuum source so it doesn't open.It should hold 10psi or so without opening (hell mine held 15psi without opening)...
Btw that turbo will be perfect for a mild street set-up on that engine

i didn't have a problem after removing the internal wastegate actuator. What you'll notice is the hole that the flapper covered in the exhaust housing. Buy a Gasket from RRE and just bolt up the downpipe. It was a very simple process really.

Does anybody here actually use a gasket on the turbine housing to discharge flange? I use gaskets everywhere but there...

When I took my turbo off the manifold after I pulled my little D I also noticed that the gasket between the two was damaged, kind of looked like a couple pieces cam loose and dissappeared in the turbo, so I was thinking of leaving that gasket out this time. Anybody else?
